Not far outside of Lyon, 30-40 minutes, is beautiful wine country. It is like another world from the city full of small wineries, vineyards and small villages. It is worth the trip. It looked quite a bit of Tuscany. Even in February it was in the 50's (F), so not too cold.  The wine tour was with Kanpai tours who did a great job.

The Beaujolais region has beautiful buildings and villages made from the local golden-yellow stone. Visited a old stone quarry, visited two small winerys with wine tasting, had lunch. The tour included education about the growing of grapes, including pruning since it was the season, and making of wine.

All in all a great time. Highly recommended when you want to get a feel of the countryside.
