In Nassau as well as Paradise Island and Cable Beach, snorkeling and diving is a must. Imagine crystal clear waters filled with a spectaular collection of reef fishes, mollusks, sea anemones, shrimps, and even sharks. Professional and amateur divers will find several exceptional sites from reefs and wrecks to coral walls and blue holes.
Some travelers prefer to find the best places on their own after internet research and from talking with the locals, other travelers prefer to get to the place with everything planned out in advance. These travevelers should book in advance with the companies that organize the trips to the different sites. One of the most popular dive operators is Stuart Cove's. While you can always make a reservation from your hotel in New Providence, it is better to do it online at www.stuartcove.com. It is recommended that you book a place at least a week in advance to make sure that you get a spot and also to get a better price (during the busy season)
Other watersports include fishing, deep-sea and light-tackle. You can rent a boat charter and hire a guide and try a local favorite called "bonefishing", otherwise known as fly-fishing. Or, if you're a serious game fisherman, you can catch yellowfin tuna, sailfish and blue marlin right off the waters of Nassau.
Catamarans powered by sail are a relaxing way to visit remote beaches and snorkel above some pretty interesting reefs . Check out the a Flying Cloud which leaves from the ferry terminal. They will pick you up at your resort and provide necessary equipment for 70 dollars .
