The great American statesman Alexander Hamilton was born on the Caribbean island of Nevis in 1757. He spent his childhood on the island up until the age of eight, when he and his mother moved to the island of St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

The birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, in Charlestown, Nevis

The Alexander Hamilton House stands at the north end of the capital of Nevis, Charlestown. Many years ago the house was restored from a ruined state; it is a handsome stone structure of two stories which stands in a peaceful cobbled courtyard next to the waterfront.

The ground floor of the building houses what used to be the Museum of Nevis History but what is now The Alexander Hamilton Museum, at the same address.
