Cricket is the island's most played sport. Cricket is the national sport of Barbados and the West Indies. Thousands of Barbadians, other West Indians and visitors flock to world-class matches at Kensington Oval, Barbados to watch batsmen of the calibre of Brian Lara, Chris Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul as well as fast bowlers such as Tino Best and Pedro Collins.

Barbados is one of the international capitals of cricket and always contributes a large contingent to the West Indies team. Names like Sir Garfield Sobers, the three W's, Wes Hall, the late Keith Boyce, Desmond Haynes, Gordon Greenidge and David Allen come to mind immediately as Barbadians who have contributed greatly to West Indies cricket. Current players include Ian Bradshaw and Corey Collymore.

Barbados will host the final of the 2007 Cricket World Cup at Kensington Oval.

Between the Barbados Rally Club (B.R.C.), The Motoring Club of Barbados Incorporated (M.C.B.I.), Vaucluse Raceway Motorsport Club (V.R.M.S.C.) and the Barbados Auto Racing League (B.A.R.L.), there is seldom a weekend  in Barbados without some kind of motorsport activity happening. And that's a good thing, considering it is the most popular spectator sport in the country. The B.A.R.L. regularly attracts spectators in the tens of thousands to its Bushy Park circuit, and over the two days of Rally Barbados the B.R.C. estimates at least 30,000 spectators follow the rally to some degree.

Barbados was chosen to host the 2006 World Golf Championships World Cup. The four-day was played at the Sandy Lane Resort on the west coast of the island.

Sunny weather all year round makes Barbados an ideal location for golfing and the perfect vacation spot for golfers. These glorious weather conditions are complemented by excellent golf courses and facilities and several hotels offer special golf packages. Several golf tournaments are hosted throughout the year, attracting participants from a number of countries including Europe and North America. In addition most golf clubs offer professional instruction. In October 2004, perhaps the world's most famous golfer, Tiger Woods, chose Barbados as the venue for his wedding to Elin Nordegren. The ceremony took place at Sandy Lane Golf Course.

The six main golf courses on the island are Barbados Golf Club, Almond Beach Village, Sandy Lane Golf Club, Rockley Golf Club, Royal Westmoreland and Belair Golf Club.

With it's reliable trade winds, Barbados also enjoys ideal sailing conditions for the avid sailor. A unique sailing experience is now available. Two former Whitbread (now known as Volvo) 80ft racing yachts are available for "match racing". Now even the most inexperienced sailor can participate in this exciting sport.

Sports wise, Barbados has it all, polo, surfing, horse riding everything, so if you are into sports, Barbados is the place to be.
