Calistoga, at Napa Valley’s northern end, was established as a geothermal hot springs destination in the 1860s. A wine-growing region since the late 1800s, it was designated Napa Valley’s 15th American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2009. Chateau Montelena Winery’s upset win in the 1976 “Judgment of Paris” blind tasting put Napa Valley wines on the international map. Known for its relaxed, unpretentious feeling, Calistoga attracts visitors from all over the world for its spas, wine, scenery and dining.
