W read the reviews and it looks like people are happy with Bananarama. I write this as I lay in bed at Bananarama sweating because the air conditioner hasn't worked right since we got here yesterday. They must have it on some kind of señor and it goes off every couple of hours. Nothing like waking up sweating. Also the room stays filled with mesquitos. I was bit 3 times in the room this afternoon. There's a crack at the bottom of the door and they are just swarming in. There isn't a chair in the room, no place to sit at all, the shower doesn't work very well, the "toiletries" provided are 2 very tiny packages is shampoo. The price is cheap and there's a reason for that. This is one step above sleeping in a tent. I'm sure the cruise ship passengers give it great reviews because the beach is nice, the dive shop is nice and it seems to be party central. However the rooms are terrible. Stay elsewhere! I wish I had! My vacation would have been much better.

I'm sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at Bananarama. You are correct that our air conditioners are on a sensor that is designed to turn off the AC after 5 minutes if no one is in the room or if the door is left open. Unfortunately, electricity is extremely expensive on the island and these sensors are necessary to reduce our consumption.

I would like to suggest that in the future when you have a problem with your accommodations, you notify the Reception Office so that they can work on resolving the issue. We keep a detailed maintenance log and I see no record of you reporting this air conditioner issue during your stay. We have maintenance workers on site from 6am - midnight every day and an air conditioner repairman on call 24 hours/day.

Notifying the front desk is a far more effective way of resolving an issue instead of posting a negative review on Trip Advisor as these reviews take time to become public and you have now already checked out of the hotel. Next time you are in Roatan, please keep us in mind and let us try to give you the positive experience that we are accustomed to providing for our guests.

We only went as part of a cruise excursion, but love it and plan on going back next year to stay for a week. The beach and water were beautiful. Security was all over and never more than 50ft away. They were not just there. They were there doing a job and took it seriously.

This is my second time to visit Roatan in 2 years and it's just not enough. I am an avid diver and dive all around the world. I dive with all kinds of dive shops everywhere. I can say with CONFIDENCE that diving with Bananarama has been the best dive experience. I would suggest to not be fooled by other dive operations that have nicer boats. The experience here is just like another reviewer mentioned, that it is like visiting and diving with friends. Everyone here is so nice, so courteous, so helpful and so accommodating. Marco is the manager here and he is AWESOME. We came with a large family group and he went out of his way to make sure that we were taken care of every single day we were there...just like he has done for us in the past. We dove 7 days with Zoe. What can we say about Zoe!!! She is just A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!! Our group dove 20 dives in those days and not a single dive disappointed. Zoe would judge the weather and currents every single day and took us to dive sites that were just fantastic. She is just a JOY to dive with. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face and we were so so lucky to dive with her again. BY THE WAY...you have NOT done a night dive, if you haven't done it with Bananarama...i know it sounds weird, but trust me...i've done night dives all over the planet and NOTHING compares to the way they do it at this dive shop. I can't stress enough how awesome Marco and Zoe were with our demanding group. I also have to give a great deal of credit to our boat captain, Kevin. Kevin helped us on every single dive. We had two divers that have bad backs and he was there at every moment to help them in and out of the water. Kevin is TERRIFIC!!!! He even helped handle our lion fish that we caught on our dives. We also had the pleasure to do a few dives with Patrick and he was great!!! Thank you ALL at Bananarama!! We will DEFINITELY be back and will be back SOON!!!

Didn't stay at Banarama but my group dove with them for a week. The entire shop was friendly and accommodating! Zoe was a patient and fun dive master, took us to amazing spots. Everyone had nothing but great things to say about our experience! Mariela and Marco were fantastic in the front office with organizing before we arrived. I also enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the restaurant.

I visited Banarama with a group through Victor Bodden Tours while on a cruise with Royal Caribbean. Booking with Victor included access to his monkey exhibit and transportation to the beach. At $30/person for everything I had low expectations for the beach portion but was really impressed. It's relaxing, the water is beautiful, and the sand is well maintained. We booked a snorkeling excursion for $30/person at the activities booth there at the beach and were really impressed. The only thing negative for me was the constant vendors trying to sell something. Maybe some people enjoy that aspect but it would have killed my vibe a bit had I not been out snorkeling.

Definitely recommend this place as a stop if you're in Roatan to truly enjoy some of the clearest water I've ever seen.

Thank you for choosing Bananarama as your destination on your recent cruise! As for the beach vendors, you are correct that sometimes it can be a little overwhelming. Our security team tries their best to keep the vendors outside of our area of the beach, but keep in mind that in Honduras all beaches are public so it is difficult to completely control movement on the beach. Usually a polite, "No thank you", tends to work and if it doesn't our staff is always available to move the vendors along.

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience and we hope you will return for an extended stay.
