After paying £210 each for a week we weren't expecting The Ritz and it was absolutely fine for what we paid.
Room
There were 4 of us sharing and the bedroom was ok with a big wardrobe but the living room was a bit disappointing as there was no where for the 2 of us to put our clothes etc even though there would have been plenty of space for a chest of drawers. There was a microwave, kettle, hob, plates, cups and cutlery but nothing for washing pots and the kitchen is in a sort of cupboard so when you are using it and have the doors open it's too dark to see anything. Cleanliness was ok, maids came in everyday and changed towels, cleaned floors etc but they didn't change the sheets on the beds in the living room during the week. Our view wasn't great, we were on the side of the hotel and looked out onto the back of a restaurant. I think the rooms on the back of the hotel would get a nice view of the sea.
Apartments
Quite a mix of people at the apartments, families with young kids, older kids and groups of friends. The pool and sunbeds were full most days but not over crowded and it gets the sun most of the day. We spent a few days at the pool instead of going to the beach and really enojed it. We never found it noisy at night and didn't see any trouble.
Staff
The staff were fine, we only really spoke to the manager of the apartments and didn't see many other people running the hotel other than him, the maids and usually one person on the bar. We had a huge advantage that my friend spoke Spanish which made getting taxis and speaking to the manager sooooo much easier. I don't know what he'd be like with people who don't speak spanish but he seemed ok.
Location
The location isn't great for getting to San Antonio because you're on the opposite side of the bay but you can get a taxi quite easily which takes about 10 -15 minutes and I think it usually cost about 10 euros. You can also walk about 5-10 minutes and then get on the ferry which leaves about every half an hour and is nice to cool down and enjoy the view, I think that cost 2.50 euros. We stayed at the Monterrey apartments a few years ago and I would go back there rather than here just because of the location. We were much further round the bay this time and too far from the San Antonio to walk. Also the beaches nearest to the apartments aren't great, we saw alot of rubbish on the beaches and they weren't very sandy. We usually walked about 20 minutes towards San Antonio to the beach nearest Monterrey Apts which was much nicer.
Where to go
Kumharas is a really nice chilled out sunset bar on the beach about 2 minutes from the apts, they have a restaurant, and lots of stalls selling jewelry, bags etc but everything is very expensive if you're on a budget like ours. We just had 1 drink and watched the sunset then went on the beach with shop bought drink and listened to the bands which were really good. Cafe del Mar is really good for watching the sunset but again very expensive. You also have to get there really early for a good seat, we got there just in time as we got a great table and 10 minutes later it was packed. All the restaurants around the apts sell the same food, burgers, pizzas, omlettes etc but one place we found that was excellent and not too expensive was Relish. Shame we didn't find it sooner or we probably would have gone everyday.
All in all a fantastic holiday, wish I was back there now!! Worst thing probably the kitchen but if you can afford to eat out most of the time then not a problem!
