“Beautiful hotel, lovely food with an outstanding team of staff who make your holiday”

Sicily and Sicilians are wonderful. The Acacia captures the essence of the country, the people and the cuisine perfectly. Check the shuttle bus services as soon as you arrive as they offer great runs to and from Cefalu which is a beautiful village offering fabulous historic scenery, restaurants and shops. Everything has to be charged back to your room in the hotel so worth keeping a note of your running total as you go as the hotel have separate logging for bar, poolside bar and restaurant. The team of animators are outstanding. Check their daily schedules as they cater for all. They bring all cultures together in warm, friendly manner and work so hard to make your days and evenings as fun or relaxing as you desire. From aqua areobics, salsa lessons and volleyball to alice in wonderland pantomines performed by the children, they take great care and attention with all. We will definitely return to this hotel.

“Staff fantastic, hotel superb, Sicily beautiful, a great holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2009

The staff at the Acacia were so friendly and helpful. To many individuals to mention but special mentionsgo to Eric at the front desk, Guisseppe and Stefania in the bar, Vince and the others in the restaurant and especially Alessandro at the pool. We originally booked for two weeks but enjoyed our stay there so much we extended for a week - the hotel is very well run, very clean and a great base from which to explore Sicily (which is a beautiful island - even our two teenage children enjoyed the days we went sightseeing.
Cannot recommend the Acacia high enough.

“very good place for your holliday in north sicily”

We went to this hotel resort twice with the family. We will certainly go again.
There is a nice swimming pool, quite large with area for the small ones, plus an access to the beach just behind the hotel (chair and umbrellas are free of charge).
There is a restaurant where you can eat outside, nice sicilian food buffet in the evening, and a three course menu for lunch (if you have full pension, and I recommend it for the price difference). The food is good, (you must like italian, and moreover Sicilian food to fully appreciate it). The breakfast is OK (fruit juice could be better and the coffee is from automated devices).
The staff is very friendly, and is still the same after two visits. The manager of the hotel is present everywhere and is continuously enquiring about the quality of the services, and the wellness of the guests.
An animation staff is also present for kids, as for adults too. This is a club, without being an "Ibiza" nightlife style. It's quite simple. Kids are well entertained by staff also.
There is a playground for the kids, and some sport activity place (beach volley, tennis court, mini golf, etc).
The location is a little bit far from cities, but close to the highway so if you go there, I'll advice you to use a rental car. You will then have the possibility to visit Cefalu (next big city), or even go to Palermo quite easily. The mountains villages are also nice to visit if you go inside the country. Take also a moment to eat Italian home made ice cream at the place of the village in Campofelice di Roccella (just some kilometers away from the hotel). For two euro, you got a big "coppetta" full of ice cream. Mmmmmm., and a real itlian ristretto for less than 1€! Shopping also possible in Cefalu, PAlermo, and other cities around

In conclusion , this place is nice to rest, to relax at the pool or the beach, enjoy a good local food, at a correct quality level. A good place to start visit around the area (rent car greatly advised, but daily shuttle to main cities at your charge possible). Going there with young kids is also nice. Teenagers could probably prefer more the nightlife places. And finally, a very good services from the friendly staff.

“Think twice before going!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2009

We were very disappointed with this resort. The restaurant staff was so rude, words cannot describe, very unfriendly, unhelpful. On the first night we arrived, we asked for some milk for our 18 months old daughter as we had forgotten to pick it at the local supermarket (7km away) on the way in and were told we would have to pay €12.00 for 1L....(if you think at the airport they didn't even want me to pay for it). Every day for lunch we would ask for our pasta to be served at the same time as the “antipasto” so we could feed our little one straightaway but it never happened, so she ended up eating a basket of bread before her pasta finally arrived. The waiters were always complaining about guests in front of other guests and in one occasion the Maitre said to us that “the German guests were braking his balls”... They took cocktails to a room and told them to bring glasses back to the bar. In many occasions we would try to make eye contact to draw their attention and they clearly ignored you. The highchair we asked on the first night at dinner, arrived the next day for lunch, although we could see it by the wall, not far from our table; in the end we didn’t use it as it was dirty. The chambermaid asked me to fill out a good report for her...even thought the room was not serviced properly; toiletries never replaced, the outside patio not cleaned once...
The food at the evening buffet was always cold and mainly studied for foreign guests, so you don’t get to experience the true Italian food.
The best feature is the pool, but the rest of the public areas like the gardens or the beach really let you down. There’s so much potential is this resort; it just needs proper management. As far as the sea I would not recommend the area as it’s dirty and flat, and the beach has stones instead of sand with plenty of rubbish... The playground is impossible to be used as based in an area which is too warm and the equipment (which by the way is dirty and out of date) are so hot, you cannot put your child on.
We had spent our first week in a small Resort called Villaggio Albergo Grotticelli in the “Riserva dello Zingaro” near Scoppello (Trapani) which was delightful with a great restaurant and were nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The area was amazing, we went to a different beach every day and found the row Sicily we were hoping.
As per Acacia, we will definitely not go back; the people make the place, more than the food and facilities and they definitely lack on this point.
