“Bit of a let down”

I thought the hotel itself was nice and the surroundings picturesque but we were over for a friend's wedding and were marooned in the middle of nowhere (practically 20km to the nearest town). There was little or no transport to anywhere lively so we found ourselves trying to make our own fun, only to be told we were not allowed to sing, laugh or make any sort of noise after 11pm - ehh hello this was an Irish wedding afterall. The food itself was very disappointing and not worth the money we paid for the week. It's a bit monotonous to be getting the same thing (practically) for lunch and again for dinner - for 7 nights!!! The staff were not particularly friendly towards us either. The rooms themselves were okay but not particularly clean. Overall it could have been so much better but we were probably about 5 years too early for the resort

  • Liked — The room and surrounding area was really clean and fresh
  • Disliked — The food and value for money, along with area - too far out from anywhere lively
  • Tips/Secrets — Leave it 3-5 years before you visit - then it will be more built up and more amenities

“Very quiet resort, not really suitable for a big group”

This hotel is ideal for a couple looking for a quiet hotel however not so suitable for a large group e.g. louder wedding party.
Positives:-
- Lovely hotel room (ask for one overlooking the pool, the ones to the back do not have great views and some overlook a building site)
- Lunchtime and evening buffet has a good selection of food
- Close to Cefalu (about €20 in a taxi or a couple euro in the shuttle bus)
- Beautiful pool area and very clean
- Good beach
Not so positves:-
- Staff speak very little English and in some cases, not all, were really quite rude and unhelpful
- Bar is very expensive
- Bit remote, you a quite restricted to the hotel as apart from the hotel next door and the small local bar down the road everything else you will need to take a taxi/shuttle bus or car to Cefalu.

“Nice ( But )”

We stayed for one week for our friends wedding . First of all we were told that there would be no air conditioning as it was the end of the season . The male receptionist suggested we sleep on the balcony to keep cool . As we were full board we were looking forward to beautiful food in a 4 star hotel . We ate breakfast and lunch each day in the hotel and only ate 3 of the nights in the hotel as we found the food boring especially the breakfast . We had to bring the chambermaid into the room 5 days after we arrived in order to get our bed linen changed . On a good note the pool is gorgeous and very clean .

  • Liked — The pool
  • Disliked — No air conditioning switched on
  • Tips/Secrets — Go when the hotel considers itself in season so the air conditioning will be switched on

“'Magical'”

A fantastic holiday at the Acacia Resort Hotel. Before arriving we were concerned at the distance from Cefalu, how would we get in and out, we were tied to half board in a Sicilian Hotel with little english..... how wrong could we be. Everything about our holiday and the hotel was first class. The food was amazing, every night something different to whet your appetite, with the option if we were travelling into Cefalu in the evening to exchange our evening meal for lunch instead.

We were continuously occupied from the aerobics in the morning, mini golf, kids club, pedolas on the beach, football, table tennis, aqua aerobics, kids disco, talent shows, evening entertainment... why would we want to go into Cefalu! A local bus 3 times a day took us into Cefalu for 3 euros per person, with the option of a bus back at tea time or a taxi at 25 euros for the 6 of us.

The hotel is very new. The facilities and bedrooms are beautiful. The limited use of english was certainly not a problem - if anything it added to our whole experience. The staff were friendly and efficient and determined to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Our 9 year old daughter never stopped from 7.30am to 11.00pm at nights and on our last day cried at leaving the resort. We had a fabulous holiday in a wonderful hotel and would certainly recommend it to others. 11 out of 10..

  • Liked — It had everything you could want, great rooms, food, bar facilties, fridge, balcony, air conditioning, entertainment etc
  • Disliked — I could find no faults with this accommodation, I loved every minute of my staff.
  • Tips/Secrets — This hotel exceeded our expectations

“Fantastic!”

Fantastic!

What a delight this resort turned out to be....we arrived at night and weren't expecting what we found.......it was like an oasis in the desert...after travelling along a very plain road, we went through the gates of the 'Acacia Resort' and were firstly struck by the design of the reception, which was open air and gave the feel of being outside and yet we were inside!

This hotel is only open a matter of months, but instead of there being teething problems, the guests benefit from the newness of everything and the excitement which comes from a new project.

Being one of the few English-speaking families, this made no difference to our enjoyment of the resort.
We would recommend this Hotel to anyone, as you experience real Sicilian culture - who wants to go away and be surrounded by more of what you have back home!

Food is of the highest standard, rooms are excellent, pool is spotless.
The 'water aerobics' is like a scene from a pop-video, with both men and women partaking - nobody cares what shape or size you are!
'Acacia' is for all ages, and is equally suitable for families or the single person, and all nationalities.
If you want to visit a country and feel its culture, Acacia is for you.

We had the luxury of a beautiful four star hotel, but visited the many little towns nearby, and joined in their celebrations.

'Acacia' is 16km outside the town of Cefalu, but local Taxis and buses make it accessible .

What really makes this place are the staff - they are young and friendly, and encourage guests to be part of the whole 'Acacia' experience - at forty years of age, for the first time in my life, I spent an hour every day benefiting from the ' soft aerobics' and then 'harder aerobics' - this was credit to the staff, who made you feel part of their team. I'm now home, and feel that I not only had a wonderful holiday, but I benefited from the facilities, am fitter, and got a better tan - all without the pain!!!!!

Where else have you been where you can say the pool-man made your holiday? Luigi is a character who has pride not only in his job, but his appearance - every day we looked forward to seeing Luigi 'Beckham's' latest attire - this is a man with a diamante earring and D&G gear!!!!!!!!

The whole team is unique, from the aerobics girls, to the entertainment's Manager (yum-yum - stop I'm married), the bar staff (who had to fill my baby's bottles every day), Ivan the life-guard, Emanuelle at the pool bar, the reception staff (a lovely lady from Boston who looks remarkably like Barbra Streisand), the Manager, the crazy boys who were part of the entertainments team, Eric the unofficial translator....best of all is the owner himself.

This is a man with finesse. An unassuming character, Cessare is a true gentleman, who makes you feel you are the only guest staying in the resort. You don't realise who he is at the start because he is so hands-on - this is why I believe Acacia is so successful - he genuinely cares about the small things which you would presume would be unimportant to a man of his position. He doesn't leave his staff to take care of everything, but instead you see him helping out and taking an interest in the operational issues of the resort.
He really has his eye on the ball, and this means that there is attention to detail, and this can only mean that the guests benefit.
He wants to listen to ideas for improvement - that's if you can find any!

The plans 'Acacia' have for the future are tempting enough to want to go back and see them.

We always go somewhere different every year, with so many places in the world to see.
Our dilemma now is the thought of not going back to 'Acacia'.....maybe we'll squeeze in an extra holiday!!!!

Wonderful memories to keep me going at work.
