Organised a 2 days work away day. Friendly welcome, meeting room was great. When I complained about the noise from the kitchen next door we were moved to another quieter meeting room. Plenty of good tea, coffee and lovely break time nibbles (pastries, good melon juice, scones with clotted cream and jam, and cake as well as a large fruit bowl every day). We had lunch and dinner in a private dining room. Beautiful decor. There were problems with both our lunch and dinner service mostly due to lack of attention to small details (and also not bringing the correct dish to the person who ordered it) but as soon as something was mentioned it would be corrected. Food was quite unremarkable (caesar salad looked anemic, no anchovies, white croutons, dill salad with mackerel did not taste of dill, everyone remarked on how sweet the bread was, overall could do better). My room was in the main house whilst my colleagues was in the annex (as the event organiser I was given an upgrade). Huge room under the eaves, small sitting area in bedroom, as well as separate sitting room and large bathroom (l'occitane products supplied). Tassimo drinks machine, water, dressing gown and slippers supplied. Shame there was no easily accessible plug for the hair dryer with a mirror nearby (had to physically move the bedside table to plug it in). Good BOSE alarm clock/radio. Used the pool which was very quiet. Comfortable bed, good shower. I am marking this stay as average only because I would expect a little more from a four star hotel. If it had been a 3 stars, I might have marked it as good.
Nearly forgot, you need to pay an additional fee of £15 (I think) to get internet access. When you book a conference event, I think that should be included!
Top floor, room 9 was great!
