“If your are going to splurge in Italy this is the place!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2009

I have been to Italy about six times. This was my first visit to the Palazzo Brandano. My brother stayed at the Palazzo Brandano previoulsy and gave it a great recommendation. Our stay far exceeded our high expectations. The food was fantastic, the town of Petrorio (which is tiny) was picturesque. However, the detailed and personal service we received at the hotel was exceptional.

You can only reach the Palazzo Brandano by car (maybe bus?) but it gave us the opportunity to drive through the beautiful and untouristed Tuscan countryside. Upon arrival we were shown our rooms which were fantastic (even by American standards).

Our first evening there we had dinner at the Palazzo Brandano. Given the small size of the village and that the Palazzo Brandano is more of a B & B, I expected the meal to be marginal. However, it was one of our favorite meals in Italy.

After a glass of wine or two, we requested that Joergen (the manager) assist us in planning the following day in Tuscany. Although he was more than willing to do so, he told us to finish our meal, not to rush, and that we would discuss it after dinner over wine in the sitting room area. After finishing our meal (and dessert), Joergen suggested we wait until the following day to make our plans so that we could sleep in and relax, or if we were up early we could add to our trip. That is the kind of attention to detail this place provides!

The following day Osmund (the manager) provided us with wonderful suggestions of Tuscan hill towns to visit, and made dinner reservations for us in Multipulciano (what was my favorite restaurant experience in Italy). While dining, Osmund called the restaurant and asked to speak with me, wanting to know how our day went, and wanting to make sure we were happy with the restaurant. Again, attention to detail!

After returning to the Palazzo Brandano after dinner, we drank Lemoncello (homemade by a woman in the village of Petrorio) with Osmund and chatted about life and travel in Italy for quite some time.

I have traveled all over Europe and can say that this was by far the best hotel experience I have had. The accommodations, food, and hospitality are unmatched. Only comment (unrelated to the Palazzo Brandano itself) is that if you are staying here, Petrorio did not appear on my driving map and I was not taking the autostrada so I could not follow the directions on the Palazzo Brandano web site. I found it without difficulty (even when taking side roads not referenced on the web site) but it may be more difficult for those that are not experienced in driving in Italy. Regardless, I would try to reach Petrorio by side roads since it is a spectacular drive.

I can't wait to go back, and will recommend Palazzo Brandano to anyone who is traveling to Tuscany.

“FANTASTICO!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2009

Our stay in this WONDERFUL small first class hotel, was the highlight of our trip to Tuscany and Rome. Our room was great and had a private patio where we could sit and watch the sun come up in the morning. The food served was first rate and FAR surpassed any food we had later in Rome. Our hosts at the Palazzo Brandano became our friends and they couldn't do enough for us to insure that our stay was the best. As an added note....when our rental car needed to be towed due to a major breakdown, the people at the Palazzo Brandano came to our rescue and also took us to the train station the next morning for our stay in Rome.....all without charge! Their mission is truly to make our stay with them in Tuscany, a trip to remember fondly. Their mission was accomplished and surpassed! We LOVED it here!!!

“Beautiful, peaceful, friendly and comfortable. This place is one of a kind.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2009

Our stay in Tuscany will always be remembered as such a pleasant one and it is due to this wonderful palazzo and staff. Joergen and Osmond made us feel right at home. They were both very helpful and will go to any length to make you happy. Their recommendations to restaurants and wineries around Tuscany were exceptional. The food at the palazzo was phenomenal. We remain highly impressed at the level of service and wish there were more establishments of this standard. A must return even though it is a little further out then other establishments but completely worth it.

“This place is special ....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

We have just returned after our second visit to Palazzo Brandano and feel we have to tell people what a special place this is. We discovered it last year on trip advisor and will certainly go again in the future. It is small and intimate but at the same time we are given plenty of space and privacy. The Manager, Joergen, knows the area like the back of his hand and can suggest where to eat depending on your mood, how to spend your day mooching from one amazing hilltop town to another, and where to find the real Tuscan experience.
We have two small children and they are welcomed and encouraged to enjoy their holiday. They love the fresh breakfast and are treated with respect by all at the hotel. The hotel has a great restaurant where the food is fresh and innovative (our six year old daughter adored the parmesan ice-cream) and a great wine list to accompany local cooking.
The bedrooms are all decorated with frescoes on the walls and earthy tiles on the floors. The rooms are large and great spaces to enjoy with sofas covered in beautiful linens and writing desks, plenty of wardrobe space and shutters on the windows that encourage small children to sleep.
So, if this leaves you at all tempted to discover this area of Tuscany may i suggest you send an email and find out if your dates are available.

“A wonderful, peaceful haven set in an idyllic Tuscan village”

This was my fourth stay at this family owned and run hotel. An ancient building in a tiny Tuscan hill village, it was restored to an understated elegance by a family of German/Eqyptian hoteliers who have relocated to this area of Tuscany. The hotel boasts breathtaking views across the valleys and has a wonderful terrace. The rooms are particularly spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is the best in the area with wonderful homemade brioche and Italian cakes at breakfast, freshly squeezed juices and excellent coffee. The staff are drawn from local villages and provide a continuity which is refreshing. It is an excellent base to explore Sienna, Montalcino or Montipulciano as well as Pienza. It also provides excellent access to the Montisi harpsichord festival in early July each year.
