The accommodation comprises 3 adjacent holiday cottages which can accommodate up to 10 in total (2-4 in each). In addition, two of the cottages (Loft and Barn) have an interconnecting door. It works well for groups coming to join in the excellent New Year celebrations in this Highland village or for walking groups. We are popular with mountaineering groups as there is easy access to the mountains of the Cairngorms, Monadhliath and also Creag Meagaidh. We also have an efficient drying room for wet walking gear. The main thing our guests comment on is the views of the Cairngorm mountains, which can be seen from the cottages and garden. The majority of our guests come to walk or bike, which can be done from the door. The Newtonmore wildcat trail is only 200m from the house. And there is an unlimited number of local walks and rides. Other local activities include golf, fishing, gliding, skiing and horse riding. Tourist License / Licencia de turismo N °: HI-70254-P

Interaction with guestsWe live on site and will generally be around the evening you arrive to greet you. The level of interaction is up to you! Most guests prefer their own space so we try not to impose ourselves, but we are on hand to answer any queries (or if we are away ourselves we provide phone and email contact numbers). This week I have provided information on local health support and local music sessions for instance! There are 3 cottages onsite so there is also the opportunity to chat with other holiday makers.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

fabulous cairngorm half term
Stayed in Loft Cottage with 2 children and 2 dogs. The cottage is in a beautiful location, dog walking across the moors from the door, with wildlife on your doorstep and fabulous views. Ideal for those who love a peaceful country setting but easy access to the main roads. The cottage is small, suited the 3 of us and very cosy but larger families may struggle. It was very warm, well equipped with many extras that you need, cling film, foil, tissues etc all there for you. We had a fabulous stay and 2 good days skiing only 40 min away.

wake up to this every day its beautiful
I would recommend Croft Cottages to anybody who loves a peaceful relaxing holiday. The views are spectacular the accommodation is excellently equipped with every gadget you could possibly need. The owners are close by but not intrusive but they are there if you require any help and are very obliging. We rented all three cottages for a two week holiday there were 13 of us including a baby we loved how we could all be together all day going from one room to another via the connecting door but in the evening we all had our separate living rooms to escape to. The property is very close to some beautiful places to visit especially the Scottish heritage park which is in the village about a 20 minute walk away and as a bonus it is free to visit but its a must do. I would go back to visit again and stay in the same place and that would be our 3rd visit. I have only one small gripe and that is I could have done with a small freezer as we couldn't stock up on frozen foods which would have been handy for such a large group but I realise if you only rent out one property you probably wouldn't need a freezer.

Good Location
Agree largely with the description by 'star7474', we stayed in the same cottage, our choice being defined by looking for somewhere in the area that would do the days we wanted (tuesday to sunday) within our budget. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and found the location great, looking for somewhere that was a bit out of the way, but not completely in the middle of nowhere. We had a meal in the nearby pub (not quite walking distance tho) which was very nice, and enjoyed being able to do a range of walks straight from the door! Kitchen was well equipped as already said, so it was easy to self-cater. The only thing to note is that the stairs are quite steep going up to the bedroom, so you'd probably want to stay in one of the other cottages if you're a bit unsteady on your feet. It also is set up so you can hire out 2 or 3 together, which could work well for a larger group of friends. I think there is bedding for 5 in just the loft cottage, but as there are only 2 rooms you'd have to get on well to make that work. Again, I would agree with the description of the bathroom feeling a bit like a caravan, but it was clean and fully functional, shower at decent enough pressure, so no major gripes there. Anne was very helpful, and responded quickly to queries, so I'd have no problem recommending this to anyone.

Clean and basic
We stayed in Croft cottages for 4 nights in the Loft (centred Cottage, while we stayed in Newtonmore. The cottage was very clean and had all the needed untensils needed for cooking, and there was also a room for washing and drying your clothes. The bathroom was very dated as it was all plastic, it felt as if you were in a caravan. The loft area has been converted into a bedroom, it is a nice space but unfortunately you have to climb from the bottom of the bed to get into bed due to the ceiling sloping down so you cannot walk around the bed area, which is a bit of a struggle when you have a drink! The cottage is quite dated but comfortable for the stay, i dont think i will return as the area is extremely quite, literally no where is open apart from the co operative down the road! Its a good base area for the highlands and walking. The owners live literally next door adjacent to the cottages who are very warm and welcoming. I do feel that there needs to be a private out door area as you felt too close with the owners being right opposite to spend anytime outside the cottage area.

Map
About the neighbourhood
Newtonmore is a traditional highland village with a long and colourful history: visitors can learn more at the Highland folk museum or Clan Macpherson museums located in the village. There is also an annual highland games and clan gathering in August as well as weekly shinty matches. Some of you will have seen the area featured in the popular TV programme Monarch of the GlenToday it depends on agriculture and tourism. The former can be enjoyed from the cottage in spring, when lambs skip in front of the cottage. Local restaurants serve good local produce to satisfy your appetite after a day spent hillwalking, mountain biking or skiing. Or you can pursue more artistic endeavours, such as photography, painting or learning how to make fused glass crafts at the cottage (not included). What more could you want!
Getting around
A car is helpful to see the most of the area but we welcome guests who arrive by bus, train or bike, meeting trains where possible. For train travel we suggest booking to Kingussie not Newtonmore as this has more frequent connections.

How to get there
Newtonmore is situated approximately 65 miles North of Perth. If travelling Northwards by car, take the A9 signposted Inverness and turn off at the Newtonmore/ Kingussie exit. Drive right through the village and turn left after the Highlander hotel into Strone Road. This leads uphill over a cattle grid and bends to the left at the top of the hill. Croft holidays is situated on your left hand side. If flying, Inverness airport is served by Easyjet and Flybe from UK destinations; Edinburgh and Glasgow airports have flights throughout Europe with many different airlines. Car hire can be arranged from these airports.
