“Home Sweet Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2008

During our first trip to Ireland, we wanted to surprise our youngest son with a farmstay. After a bit of doing, we were able to arrange our stay at Sliabh gCua. It was absolutely worth every effort just to see the smile on our son's face and his excitement when Jim called his herd of Angus cattle and one of them came up and licked his hand. More wonderful surprises were in store as Breeda, and their guest intern Regina from Austria, brought tea and biscuits for us as we rested under the Sycamore tree taking in the beautiful blue skies. After tea, Breeda recommended we drive up towards Tipperary to catch the Rhodendron in bloom. Wow - what beauty! It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for all of us. Indeed, Breeda and Jim have made their house a home - for the weary traveller to be refreshed and revived. We'll always have fond memories of Sliabh gCua and we're sure our son will, too.

Staying here at the beginning of our vacation spoilt us for the rest of the B&Bs we stayed in. Breeda and Jim are such a wonderful warm couple from their warm hospitality to their outstanding helfulness. The breakfasts, amazing. I was traveling with my new hubby and mom and step-dad, mom & I had to tell the boys not to expect this service at home. Breeda made suggestions on what to see and do in the area and sent us on our way with scones, hot water to make tea and coffee each morning while on our travels of the area and then met us at night with goodies and the fire going in the parlour.
This B&B is one we will return to when we travel back to Ireland again and we will be returning

“Didn't want to leave”

We returned to Sliabh gCua after discovering it 2 years ago. Breeda and Jim are wonderful hosts and truly do all they can to make your stay the best possible. There are great views, excellant food and comfortable beds. But best of all are the evening chats around the warm glowing fire. Breeda and Jim join guests each evening offering tea, coffee, hot chocolate and home made cake. Breeda gets everyone talking to eachother and creates a warmth amongst travelling individuals that is extremelly rare! When you leave you feel you are leaving friends behind.

“Wonderful stay at Sliagh gCua Farmhouse”

I'm not sure I can completely describe how incredible this Farmhouse, Breeda and her family and staff were. We arrived at 7pm and after we got settled, were greeted with tea, home made scones, home grown/made raspberry jam, cake, etc. The home and gardens were spectacular. Breakfast was a never ending parade of porridge, eggs, sausages, home made cereal, yogurt, fruits, scones and jam, toast and just in case we didn't get enough - a sampling of local cheeses!!!

We left Sliagh gCua and headed for other areas. After staying a few nights elsewhere, called Breeda to see if by chance she had room for us one more night, as we were willing to reroute our entire trip to come back. Sadly, she was booked (we were traveling with 6).

We will certainly be back!

“Sliabh gCua Farmhouse is outstanding.”

Our stay at Sliabh gCua was one of the nicest experiences we've had in many years of travelling in Europe. Breeda & Jim Cullinan have a comfortable, immaculately-kept home in a beautiful country setting. Touraneena is so small that it isn't on many maps, but it's about midway between Clonmel and Dungarvan. There are sights to see-the gardens at Lismore, Cahir castle, Cashel & Kilkenny; but it was idyllic just to walk the country roads around Touraneena, picking blackberries as we went.

The food was exceptionally good, and there were plenty of breakfast options apart from the traditional eggs and meat (smoked salmon, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, hot and cold cereals...). When guests returned to the farmhouse at the end of the day, Breeda & Jim greeted them with cake and coffee. They were truly gracious, no matter the hour or the situation. All the guests we talked to felt, as we did, that staying with them was a wonderful bit of luck.
