This has been our first visit to Hawaii. We did a lot of research before deciding on this hotel. I'm so glad we finally came here!
First, the location is fantastic: to one side, you have the beach (not quite big, but there's work being done to enlarge it), to the other, the heart of Waikiki. Right in the middle of everything.
The rooms are spacious, very clean and accomodated my wife and I with our two daughters perfectly. Even though we had a partial ocean view, the sights were very generous. Considering the small amount of time we spent in our room, it was really more than enough.
We booked directly from the hotel site with a daily breakfast package for two. Great value.
And that takes me to the following part of the review: Duke's. Excelent place. Our breakfast could be be had in either one of three choices. Duke's offered a buffet that had everthing. We had breakfast there every single morning looking at that thr sea. Restaurant staff was very friendly. The guy that made the ommelets, Gary, was very pleasant to speak to. We even had dinner a couple of nights and our girls (2 and 6) loved it.
We heard no noise from the hallways and we could rest perfectly.
The staff at the front desk was very friendly and efficient. Check in and check out was a breeze. I even had delivered some packages by mail and they handled them perfectly.
Pool zone was nice. We had no problems getting lounge chairs, that were even offered by the pool staff. The beach was nice. A bit on the smaller side, but nice to spend some time.
I took a surfing lesson with the guys at the beach and had a wonderful time. They even send someone with a camera and they take pics of you surfing. Really nice experience.
We rented a car for a couple of days and parked at the hotel. At 30 bucks a day, we found it a bit pricey, but at least the valet service was efficient and very patient, as with two kids, we had a lot to unload every time we arrived.
I strongly recommend exploring other beaches (Wailea was an excelent choice). We even got to North Shore to watch some serious surf.
We did some shopping at the premium at waikele (got a couple of deals) and visited a target store. We are from Argentina, so shopping is always part of our trips to the USA.
So, I can't speak nothing but good things about this hotel. We loved it.
Try it and have fun.
