We stayed at The Windsome B&B for 2 heavenly nights during our 3 week tour of New England, paying $105/night + tax for a midweek stay.
The B&B is located in a quiet residential part of town less than a mile (10-15 minute stroll) from the waterfront and Newports shops and restaurants.
Our room 'Autumn', was absolutely beautiful, light, airy, clean and comfortable. The room was decorated and furnished very tastefully. The bed was huge and so wonderfully comfy that it made it hard to get up in the mornings. The room had air conditioning and a large ceiling fan. A TV was hidden within an antique unit.
There are only 2 bedrooms and they share a common area with sofas, fridge, microwave, music system (with controls so it can be played in to your room), tea and coffee making facilites, books etc. A yummy continental breakfast is served in the common area, this included fresh fruit salad, homemade baked goods, coffee/tea, juice and yoghurt. Valerie, the owner, did make us delicious scrambled eggs one morning.
Valerie is a wonderful host who is friendly and welcoming and does her best to make your stay an enjoyable one without being too overbearing. Her business cards for Windsome say 'Simple Elegance' and this sums up the atmosphere she has achieved at her bed and breakfast.More
