This is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We booked this hotel because of the fact that it was in the center of everything we wanted to do in San Antonio. We went to the Natural Bridge Caverns, the Riverwalk, and the AT&T Center, and this hotel was right dead smack in the middle no more then a 20-25 min drive to each. There were closer hotels but the great reviews I read on here are what pushed me into booking this place, and boy am I glad that I did.
I'll just start with the location. JUST WOW!!!!!! Everything you could possibly need or want is literally just around the corner. The hotel is located behind an H.E.B which is great for your grocery needs, there are countless restaurants all over of any type (all from I read are great places to eat, I can vouche for one), entertainment is everywhere from shopping, a movie theater across the street, and there is an ice skating/mini golf center a few seconds drive away. This is one of the better parts of San Antonio and you can clearly see it once you drive into the Northwoods area. You are near the highways so it is easy to navigate around. Also just cross over to the other side of the highway it has another shopping center and even more restaurants from which to choose. I have never been more impressed with a location by a hotel. Location alone would get me to stay here again.
The hotel looks great and new. Parking is free and well lit up. The area in which this hotel is in seems like a better area so that helps to ease the mind. This area really does seem like the nicer part of town.
Check in was very smooth, with no problems what so ever. The women behind the counter (so sorry I can't remember her name) was very friendly. I rather enjoyed her company. She even told my girlfriend Happy Birthday on the day we were leaving, which amazed me that she remembered (I had told her during check in). We got our keycards and were on our way.
I had asked for a quiter upper room floor and I got exactly just that. The area the hotel is at is surprisingly quiet. I am a very light sleeper and I was never woken up during the night hours. It seemed very peaceful looking out my window.
The room was very clean, the bed, the bathroom, everything was simply spotless. Only one minor cosmetic blemish was seen which was a small rip in the carpet but I can't hold this against them because it did not bother me at all, in fact I didn't even notice it once I got comfortable. The beds were so soft and molded to your body, and it was the same with the pillows. I slept very comfortably that weekend.
There was a pool, but it was too cold outside to go swimming so we did not use it.
The breakfast in the morning was free and it was good. I would recommend it because it was very tasty and had a variety from which to choose. No point in going out to get breakfast some where else, unless you wake up late.
One minor thing also is that the elevators are very loud when the door is opening and closing. It sounds like the doors need to be oiled. But now I'm just getting picky and it didn't bother me much at all.
Overall I gave this hotel a perfect score and I will recommend to everyone that they should stay at this place. Try it for yourself and you will understand why everybody speaks very highly of this place.
