“Great hotel for the price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2010

My husband and I stayed her on an extended weekend trip in October. It was perfect for our needs. Walking distance to almost everywhere we wanted to go, and if it wasn't walking distance, then it was just a few minutes to 3rd ave where all of the buses ran. It was also across the street from an Airporter stop, so we were able to easily get to and from the airport. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We never once passed by the front desk on our way in without being greeted, or on our way out without a "have a nice day". And we were in and out a lot! The front desk staff was also very helpful with directions and recommendations on where to eat or sites to see. We didn't use the internet in our room, but we did use the computers in the lobby. It especially came in handy when it came time to print our boarding passes for our trip home. We knew we wouldn't spend much time at the hotel so we weren't looking to spend much money on one. But our time spent there was always pleasant. If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel walking distance to just about everything, we'd highly recommend this place. We're planning to return to Seattle next summer, and we'll definitely be staying at Sixth Avenue Inn again.

Oh one more thing. I remember reading negative reviews here first complaining about the strip club across the street. But decided to take a chance and stay here anyway. Our room faced the club and my husband didn't even realize it was there until I pointed it out on our last night. There was no loud noise and with our curtains closed there was no problem with the neon signs. And the club is actually on the back side of the hotel, not in front, so you'd never even have to walk passed the place. And the area was NOT "shady". In face, there was a very upscale restaurant across the other street (can't remember the name right now) with Lambos and Ferraris parked out front. Not your typical "shady neighborhood" vehicle. I'm from the southside of Chicago. I know shady when I see shady, and this area was not shady. So don't let the proximity to the club discourage you. It really was not an issue AT ALL.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such detailed feedback about your stay at the Sixth Avenue Inn! Your kind words are greatly appreciated. As our hotel is centrally located in Downtown Seattle, the public transit system is a fantastic way to get around. I am glad to hear about your greetings from the front desk. We aren't the largest hotel in Seattle, but that allows us to give our guests individual attention and help you in any way that we possibly can. I am also happy to hear that you took advantage of our complimentary business center ,as we know printing boarding passes at the airport can be very time consuming. Lastly, thank you for clarifying the area our hotel is located in. We are located in the heart of Downtown, and there is a diverse range of businesses located around us. This includes the primary shopping district, located 2 blocks away from us, as well as five star restaurants within walking distance. We thank you once again for staying with us at the Sixth Avenue Inn, and look forward to your stay with us this summer!

“amazing location for the price paid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2010

with a military discount (they also have AAA discounts), a double was less than $60 with tax. Parking fee was explained and signed for at check in, so no surprises there. the room has a minifridge and microwave, and wireless was easiy accessed. it did go out once, but we just called the front desk and it was reset within 15 minutes. there was no need to drive anywhere, but we like walking. front desk was helpful with directions and finding a grocery store. we had view of little darlings strip club from our room, but it was interesting people watching and i never felt unsafe. i would come back to the hotel again.

“Good value for money, BUT too noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

I got a good last minute deal and had a nice clean room - nothing fancy, but better than a Motel 6 or Super 8. Great location downtown, within walking distance to department stores and 10 minutes to Pike Place Market. Very friendly staff. However, both mornings I awoke to the sounds from the ceiling above me, hearing footsteps and TV noises nearby. Seems like the building has a cheap wooden construction with bad sound isolation. Without ear plugs, you cannot sleep late, which is the main reason I went there in the first place...

Thank you very much for taking time to leave some feedback about your stay with us. We are very happy to hear that you were able to take advantage of our Downtown Seattle location, as well as your satisfaction of our staff and room conditions. I am sorry to hear that you had some issues with the noise during your stay. I would not say that the building is poorly constructed, however it is an older building. If you stay with us again in the future, please let us know and we would be happy either move your room, inform your neighbors if they are being too noisy, or do anything that we can to accommodate your needs. Thank you so much once again for leaving your feedback and staying with us at the Sixth Avenue Inn.

“pretty good motel - except sleeping conditions”

We stayed there on a 3-day-city-trip to Seattle. Generally speaking, the motel itself exceeded my expectations. For a motel in this price class it was exceptionally clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Furthermore, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in a way I rarely have seen before. Great experience! The guys at the front des can supply you with the best local information.

The motel is comfortably close to downtown, which is great for sightseeing. However, this makes it also a bit noisy. They also have a wifi-hotspot, but beware: the signal strength at the 5th floor is horrible. In that case you should go to the lobby or the free business center.

The only VERY negative thing: it seemed to be kind of a party motel. We experienced an extremely high noise level during the nights until 5 am every night. Partying room neighbors, drunk people in and outside the hotel. I slept maybe 2 hours each night!

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a comment. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and especially appreciate your kind words about the hotel's front desk staff. We just upgraded to full wireless internet throughout the entire hotel at the begining of the year, so we should have the connectivity issues addressed now. I am sorry to hear about the noise issue you had during your stay. We do not like to fall under the category of a, "party hotel" and have a security guard to monitor the hotel during quiet hours throughout the night. If you decide to stay with us again, please feel free to let us know about any noise issues as we do have someone at the front desk 24 hours a day. Thank you so for staying with us at the Sixth Avenue Inn!

“Basic but reasonable location - could be better value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2010

We stayed at the 6th Avenue Inn for three nights when we were starting a road trip from Seattle to Las Vegas. It's a fairly short walk from the coach station which makes it cheap to get to from the airport and manageable even with a fair amount of luggage. There are also some great bars a few streets away, although it's a schlep to the main part of town (we only walked it a couple of times).

The room itself was large and reasonably clean, although the shower was not exactly powerful. My one issue was with the staff - not particularly friendly or helpful, took far too long to check us in (there were two staff on duty, neither of whom paid us any attention for 15 minutes so we were stood like lemons while they both appeared to be checking the computer for a while). No recommendations about local places to go or eat - the small lobby has some leaflets but we were looking for advice about a local restaurant. Ended up walking and finding somewhere great anyway.

Fabulous trip and we'll go back to Seattle again - but we're not staying here. Other places in the area offered much better service and nicer rooms for a similar rate.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us at the Sixth Avenue Inn. I am glad to hear that your room was satisfactory, but very sorry to hear about your experience with the front desk staff. I noticed your stay was back in September of last year, which was one of our busiest times, so perhaps the front desk was a little backed up. However, that is not an excuse as our hotel prides itself on the customer service that we provide and do not like to have a single one of our guests feel as if they were overlooked. I promise that if you give the Sixth Avenue Inn another chance, you will not be disappointed. Thank you once again for your time, and and staying with us at the Sixth Avenue Inn.
