My daughter and I enjoyed a visit to this hotel at Easter. We both have visited Solden before and found this hotel to be excellent. The service is attentive and friendy and the food was superb, such a lovely choice every evening and breakfast was extensive.
Our room was huge- we made a late booking, so maybe we just got lucky, but there was more than enough room for another two people. Wardrobe and storage space was certainly not a problem. Bathroom was clean and well laid out and there was always plenty of hot water at the end of a hard days skiing!
There’s plenty of English channels of the TV and wifi access can be purchased cheaply from the reception.
The hotel is situated in a quiet part of the town, the Gaislachkogl gondola is the nearest access point to the slopes, and takes about ten minutes to walk there. The walk is very pleasant as you take a path along the river- there is a small footbridge at the back of the hotel, but as we were there at the end of season, this was removed two days into our holiday, meaning after this we had to walk a little further around!
I’d recommend hiring a ski locker in the huge ski shop adjoining the gondola. They operate on a card system and are typically modern, clean and efficient. It also means you don’t have that horrible trek in your ski boots every morning to get to the gondola station!
The ski buses are frequent and plentiful, you can get from one end of the town- Gaislachkogl, to the other Giggijoch, very easily in just over five minutes. One day we took advantage of the shared ski pass with Obergurgl and caught the ski bus there. The journey took just under 20 mins and skiing in an alternative resort made a pleasant change.
We loved Solden, the skiing is excellent and even though we travelled in April, the snow conditions were still very good. We would have liked to have been able to ski down to the village itself, but at that time of the year, the snowline had risen to about 1800m so this was impossible. Nevetheless, with two glaciers and three peaks in excess of 3000m, you are not going to struggle to find good snow.
If you are thinking of holidaying in Solden, please consider the Hotel Erhart, we highly recommend it.
