Stayed at The Mulberry at the recommendation of some friends. They said when they travel to Savannah, it was the only place to stay. My S.O. and I were on our way to Myrtle Beach for my birthday weekend and thought this would be a nice stopping place to begin our holiday. We were a little later arriving than we had planned but managed to make it just in time for the complimentary "wine and cheese" in the lobby. The front desk staff were extremely gracious and kind ... made me feel like a real VIP. As a new Priority Club member, we were given free parking in their parking garage across the street.
Our room was comfortable, clean and surprisingly quiet. I was concerned because it overlooked the street, but we had no issues. While the hotel is a little pricey for the type of room and hotel, it was right in line with the other facilties I checked in the Historic District. I was expecting something a little more quaint and historic, but overall was satisfied with the value for the price. It was also right before the Easter weekend, so that may have made a price difference.
Only "glitch" - and certainly was no fault of the hotel - about 15 minutes after getting to our room, the fire alarm went off and everyone had to evacuate the hotel. Wouldn't have been much of an issue, but it was raining and there was limited space under the awning at the front of the hotel.
Very conveniently located to River Street and many of the local attractions. Beautiful little park between hotel (on Bay Street) and the access to River Street ... too bad the weather didn't allow us the opportunity to check things out a bit more.
Bed was EXTREMELY comfortable ... got the best sleep I had in a while. Hope to have an opportunity to stay there again ... though with as compfortable as the bed was, I may not see much of Savannah the next time either!
