“Hotel on the "Magical Road"”

This overall was a very nice hotel and the price was right on the money! it is in the perfect spot to get to River street and Paula Deens spot. it was kinda in the heart of it all (for what we wanted to do anyways..SMILE) so my sister dubbed it being on a magical street everything you needed was on this street..if you wanted to pawn your car, get your nails done, do some grocery shopping, eat a steak..hey this is for you honey (Abercorn). the hotel was roomy, love the idea of having a kitchen..here is my beef though..i am one to clean the bathrooms in a hotel (that is the mom in me) needless to say so everyone on the trip can put their seat on the seat..LOL..well i went in the clean the bathroom and it was hair in the tub..i was a lil grossed out but i managed to get it together. well i moved to the floor and it was ALOT of hair on the floor..EWWWWWWWWWW okay by then i was not ok. it was late when we finally got settled in and i was not up to calling the desk and going through the motions (we had just driving 13 hours) it took 2 attempts to get the floor clean to my liking..other than that my stay overall was FABU!! when i return to Savannah i plan on staying here again..i only gave it a 4 because of someone else's hair being in the bathroom that did not come with us.

“Convenient, affordable and comfortable.”

I stayed at this location for a week in January and was pleased with the cleanliness of the room, the friendliness of the staff and the convenient location relative to shopping and historic Savannah. Also, the bed was suprisingly comfortable. When on the road I dont plan on getting quality sleep but I slept well every night.

“Better than expected”

Not sure why this hotel has received some poor reviews. We stayed 2 nights: Sept. 18 and 19. Rooms were clean, recently updated and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The location was excellent--just a few minutes from the historic district as well as right next to several "modern conveniences" like mini shopping malls and grocery stores. Rooms have hairdryers, kitchenettes, soaps, etc. Things people complain about like no daily maid service or having to pay extra for special amenities are fully disclosed on the company's webpage and in the room....and are the reason the room is inexpensive. If you want the Ritz, you should be willing to pay for it. If not, this makes a great place from which to base to explore the beauty and intrigue of Savannah.

We took a drive to Tybee Island just to check it out. The Crab Shack is a great place to eat on the water. The atmosphere alone is worth the drive! In Savannah, the same can be said about The Pirate House: great atmosphere, private tour w/an entertaining guide and even better lunch buffet.

“Worst ever!!! Beware”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2008

We stayed in the hotel the July 4th long-weekend (2008) for 3 nights with 2 girlfriends while visiting a friend. We arrived there Friday afternoon, and requested a room with 2 double beds. After 15 minutes of searching (I'm not quite sure what takes so long) the girl told us that they have one room left with 2 doubles, but in the smoking area. We took it. When we arrived at the room and opened the door, the TV was on, the beds were undone. THEY GAVE US THE KEY TO SOMEBODY ELSE'S ROOM. When we got back downstairs instead of apologizing, the girl thought it was funny, and said that whoever checked those people in "forgot" to mark the room off as occupied in the system. We did not feel safe for the rest of the trip, and were worried that the key to our room would be given to someone else- carried all cash and passports and jewelery on hand at all times. It took the girl another 1/2 hr to find us a room, and she rudely would talk to other clients who wouldn't wait their turn. WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! COMPLETELY UNSAFE, AND HORRIBLE. Furthermore, the room that we got had 1 queen bed, as there were no more doubles or king bed rooms left. Also they had no more roll away beds (for which we were willing to pay extra). Instead, 3 of us slept on 1 queen bed for 3 nights. Walls in the hotel were paper thin, and we could hear people snoring in the room next to us. This hotel ruined our trip, and the service was awful!

  • Liked — Nothing! The service and experience were awful!
  • Disliked — The terrible rude service / staff - no manners or class

“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2008

We got 2 rooms for $50.00 each, nightly rate for 5 days using an online agent.

The staff was friendly, hotel was very clean and had a very nice kitchen with toaster, stove top range, cabinets, countertops, full fridge/freezer, and all the utensils and cooking pots/pans.

My only complaint was the television. TV was too small and not enough channels. Other than that, we had a great experience!

No pool and no breakfast however they do offer fresh hot coffee in the mornings.

  • Liked — CLEAN, FRIENDLY STAFF, GREAT PRICE!
  • Disliked — TV in room
