Pros:
1. cheapest rates in town
2. rooms are clean and come with a gas fireplace
3. within walking distance of The Village and Whiskey Creek

Cons:
1. no bar, room service, or continental breakfast
2. owner / hosts are grumpy
3. hotel is very old
4. bed coverings are inadequate (bring your own blanket)

Yeah the old Grumpy Mountain Guy has his days, but it's all in the way you look at it. He's not such a bad guy...I think he's just a Mammoth legend or something! The rooms are extremely cheap -- especially for Mammoth; the beds are clean, and the rooms are spacious and well equipped with the basic necessities... full kitchens, TV, pull-outs, -- we find it a good value. The jacuzzi is clean, parking good, very close to town. Anyway, when you go to Mammoth you sure as heck don't go for the rooms--it's what's outdoors that really counts! Been to Holiday Haus 2 yrs in a row now and will go back again as long as the prices stay as low as they are! If it wasn't for these older mom-and-pop hotels I couldn't afford my favorite getaway destination anymore!

I've actually stayed here twice...twice because as anyone who has been to Mammoth knows, the prices for hotel rooms can be outrageous. It is a bit run down, and I agree with the previous review that the guy running the place is a bit cranky. Its not the nicest place but they did try to keep it as clean as possible. The hot tub was definately not "hot", only lukewarm, so I didn't dare jump in for fear of who knows what growing in there. The only thing going for it is that its walking distance to the beer festival that they have every summer.

Want to know the definition of terrible customer service? Just call the Holiday Haus! Rudness is obviously a way of life for the owner of this place. I don't recommend anyone ever staying at this place.
