The hotel was excelent. Patty at the front desk is great. We arrived at 2 in the a.m and our fireplace was on and the room was nice and warm and clean. It was snowing all weekend but they do a good job keeping the driveway clear of snow making it easy to get in and out. Its perfect and inexpensive. I will definatly
stay here again and recomend it to friends.

GOOD STUFF:

Great Location - Walking Distance to Whiskey Creek, Gondola,
and Village
Clean

Gas Fire Place - Ok slow to heat room, but when it heats up it
gets hot...

BAD STUFF -
Located on a Downhill, so when it snows real bad, make sure you have chains or 4 wheel drive

Very old Hotel - Definately shows wear and tear. Rooms are not updated

Bedding was terrible. Definately bring your own

Managers seemed allright, just a tad bit on the grumpy side.

My Opinion:
The place was ok as it had the very basics such a bathroom, bed, heater, and even a TV. This is not my first choice. Only stay here if you are:

1. Coming up with the boys and don't care about ammeneties.
2. Coming up alone and the same as above
3. Are a real cheapy and just don't want to pay for a decent place
4. Last minute accomodations.

Pros:
1. cheapest rates in town
2. rooms are clean and come with a gas fireplace
3. within walking distance of The Village and Whiskey Creek

Cons:
1. no bar, room service, or continental breakfast
2. owner / hosts are grumpy
3. hotel is very old
4. bed coverings are inadequate (bring your own blanket)

Yeah the old Grumpy Mountain Guy has his days, but it's all in the way you look at it. He's not such a bad guy...I think he's just a Mammoth legend or something! The rooms are extremely cheap -- especially for Mammoth; the beds are clean, and the rooms are spacious and well equipped with the basic necessities... full kitchens, TV, pull-outs, -- we find it a good value. The jacuzzi is clean, parking good, very close to town. Anyway, when you go to Mammoth you sure as heck don't go for the rooms--it's what's outdoors that really counts! Been to Holiday Haus 2 yrs in a row now and will go back again as long as the prices stay as low as they are! If it wasn't for these older mom-and-pop hotels I couldn't afford my favorite getaway destination anymore!
