“Started out well--- ended badly”

I do commend the Stay hotel for its pricing, amenities, staff, and location. Up until my last day there, it was a wonderful experience. However, my last day, I went out putting my jewelry in the room safety deposit box using the same code I had used during my entire stay. When i returned that evening, the code no longer worked and I called the front desk to have it resolved. They did send up a tech who opened the safe and while the cash and credit cards were still there, my jewelery was not.
They were VERY attentive and apologetic and helpful--- at first. I told them to see if someone would turn it in, no questions asked. There was email correspondence for 3 weeks, and then nothing. The situation has yet to be resolved and they are no longer responding to any of my phone calls or emails.
Upshot: the hotel overall is a great value for the money-- just don't leave ANYTHING of ANY value in the room safe!!!!!

“Can the rooms get smaller in NYC”

Very friendly staff, unique lobby and bar area, block from Broadway and Time Square. But, oh my can the rooms in NYC possibly get smaller than these, I hope not, it was hard to turn around in the room. I had to walk in forward and back out.

“It is what happened after checkout”

I was at the Stay Hotel for 8 nights and enjoyed my stay. My room was small but comfortable.
As you I am sure can imagine an 8 day stay in New York is not inexpensive. On checking in a hold was placed on my credit card to ensure that I would be able to pay the bill. I have no problem with that. A problem does however arrise that on checking out my credit card was debited BUT the hold on my account was not removed. I phoned the hotel and spoke to "Jemala" (not sure of spelling) who said it was not her problem and my bank had to sort it out. This is a problem when your bank is in South Africa. As I was now running short of money as my funds were blocked I had to have money transferred from South Africa to finish my trip. My bank in SA says the Stay Hotel must remove the hold.
I departed from this hotel on 8 October - it is now 27 October and the hold is still on my credit card. I have email the hotel and received no response.

“amazing romantic weekend”

My friend organized a birthday get-away for my 40th and it was amazing. The concierge worked with him to plan everything down to the last detail. The he coordinated the roses in the room as well as included chocolate covered strawberries.
My friend hadn't thougth to make dinner arrangements for sat night - the concierge took care of everything - got us into an amazing restaurant - told them it was a birthday occasion, for which I was treated to special desert. It was fabulous. The room was great. All other aspects of the service were excellent.

“Small hot noisy rooms, above a great bar..”

Seriously, all the reviews below tell you what you need to know.

The reception and bar is great. That's where it ends. Very clean and well presented, it's just that the primary reason of a hotel is normally to sleep, which it doesn't allow very well.

Air Conditioning is specific to your room, (great) however it's so loud you have to turn it off.
