“Grand travelin'--old school style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

Beautiful, capacious rooms. From an era when folks traveled with big trunks. The rooms are h-u-g-e and the bathrooms too. Really just a lovely place. But note: an old hotel is, well, an old hotel, so the gap between the elevators and the floor may be a bit odd, etc. I was thinking that this might be one of my favorite hotels ever, just about the time that a bunch of loudmouths had a meet'n'greet out in the 7th floor hallway. At 11 in the PM. But, hey, what can you expect from a great hotel in a hip part of town? Still though, it's a lovely place and I'd stay again without hesitation. PS The oatmeal in the dining room is tasty.

“Will never stay here again.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

My son and I stayed at the Melrose over the Thanksgiving holiday in order to be close to family in the area. When we checked in there was no one at the front desk and after a long wait a bellman finally took us to the room. There was a problem with the kitchen so we could not get coffee or breakfast the following morning. There is only valet parking behind the hotel which we had to pay for daily and every time we left to go to my father's house which was frequently, we had to ask for the car. The worst part of the stay was the room. It was very worn, very poorly lit, and the housekeeping was the worst I have ever experienced. I was so exhausted from going back and forth from the hotel and my father's house that I gave up trying to get anything done about the multiple problems. I travel often both nationally and internationally and found my stay here to be completely unacceptable for the money I paid and the service that is advertised.

“Definitely Not Worth The Money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

Booked this reservation thru a hospital service I am a patient at, I have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world and was surprised after reading the wonderful reviews on here, the front desk staff certainly did not recall my name, no bellman was there to assist in carrying the multiple bags we had. My creditcard was immediately charged the full price of the room for the entire stay as well as 75 dollars a day "incidentals" I had the option of cancelling a day early thru the hospital which I ended up doing as I was released to go home sooner than expected, I was assured the money for the one nights stay plus the 150 incidental charge was already credited however after speaking with my bank and having them check the card it had not been credited, and 3 very brief and not very friendly phone calls later was assured that it has been credited but can take up to 72 hours to show back up in my bank account. The room was nice but overly warm and had a musty smell and all 4 of us woke up with raging headaches the next morning. The one good point is the restaurant while pricy, although they were running a special of 3 courses for $30, the food was excellent and the waitstaff exceptional. When we asked about the shuttle service and would it take us to the hospital we were informed to google the hospital address and find it, we ended up just using our GPS and driving ourselves. Having stayed in similar hotels I was very disappointed I even had one hotel OWNER in Italy go to the store and by milk for my infant, and packed us sandwiches and snacks for day excursions as well as getting us vehicles and reservations THIS is the kind of service I expect when staying at a "top notch" hotel.

“CLEAN & COMFORTABLE BUT UGLY FURNISHINGS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 June 2010

The Warwick is a classic gem of a hotel in a wonderful neighborhood with good restaurants within walking distance. The first 3 nights of my stay were perfect great AC and quite, unfortunately the last evening was Saturday and they had a wedding party with a band which played until 12:30 and loud guests running the halls ‘til 2 am. I would chose this hotel over the Crescent which I have stayed at multiple times and had numerous problems. In my opinion the Melrose and Stoneleigh are the best options if you want a 4 star hotel in this near downtown area with a good nights sleep.

Arriving in Dallas to meet friends and they made my reservations at the Warwick Melrose Hotel.
