“Great value for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2007

I've stayed at the Wingate Inn at Market Center several times in the past and was taken aback by the bad reviews. I was pleasantly surprised.

Wingate has upgraded their breakfast since the last time I stayed there in January of 2005. My room was clean, pleasantly decorated, and well appointed with a king size bed as well as a king size sofa bed, free wireless internet, a nice desk to work at, a coffee pot, refrigerator, and microwave.

My only complaint was that the shuttle for market didn't have enough seating and since we were in a hurry I sprung for a cab but at my internet rate of $79 a night I could afford to!

I've paid a lot more for a room during Dallas Market but the Wingate Inn was just as good as most of the other ones.

“Not as good as I expected from wingate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2006

This hotel was not what I expected from wingate. The staff was very courteous and the location was great. We were 10 minutes from anything that we wanted to do in Dallas. But....the hotel was not as clean as I like. We booked this hotel because of the indoor pool and my 10 year old was very disappointed. The indoor pool was not heated and was really to cool to swim in. The hot tub had an opened box of bar soap, a washrag, and a towel beside it. It appeared someone had used it as a bathtub. Not appealing at all. This hotel was a good place for a business traveler, but not for a family.

“Unsafe Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2005

I stayed at the Hotel for one night on a Sunday night. I did not have reservations. The Hotel looked nice from the outside and the interior looked nice (new). I checked in past midnight. The clerk was not very attentive. She acted like she really didn't want me there. While I was unloading my car, a drunk male was wondering the parking lot. I told the desk clerk and she acted like she could have cared less. I parked in front of the Hotel in view of the front desk windows. The next morning I went out to my car about 9:30am to find that my passenger side window had been smashed and the trunk had been opened. Thank goodness I had taken everything out of my car except some drapery ($300) that I had bought. They stole the drapes, and even my cell phone charger. Come to find out 3 other cars had been broken into as well that night. I spoke to one of the other victims and she said the Hotel was bad and they were checking out. She said thier room had also been burglarized. I filled out an incident report with the hotel. They said someone would get in touch. They finally called me at 3:45pm to tell me that they were sorry the incident had happened and that they were not responsible. The Hotel should have provided secruity!

“Rooms need a redo”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2005

I was not impressed with the condition of the room I received. It seemed as though everything in the room was stained, soiled and damaged. A few of the low points: disgusting stains on the bed skirts and covers, dead bugs splatted on the wall, stained and damaged easy chair, bedside table with a broken leg, side chair that was heavily marked with ink pen (looked like a kids art project), toilet that did not flush properly and that made erratic noises, stale dank smell in the room, each bed had different color sheets, etc, etc.

Wingate bills their properties as "built for business". I would be very disappointed if I was stayting here on a business trip and would probably check out and go elsewhere. I had a one night stay for a leisure trip at a cheap rate, so I stayed the night and left early the next morning. The hotel seemed to only have a handful of occupied rooms on the Sunday night I was there judging by the wide open parking lot and virtually empty public areas. One final note, this hotel is not very close to the Market Center, which is a few mile south on I-35. It is adjacent to a seedy industrial area and closer to Parkland Hospital and the Medical Center. It's also directly next to the Penthouse "Gentlemen's" Club.
