“Great Location; Great B&B; Smashing Hosts”

Made very welcome into a modern house that has been purpose built as a B&B. Nice rooms, nice linen, very clean and bright. Ten minutes gentle amble along the river that runs outside the house to Glendalough with St Kevin's monastery and round tower. Also a pub there and a restaurant attached to the Glendalough Hotel. Other restaurants a bit further away - lots if you fancy a drive.
Very peaceful, lots of walks over the hills and along the lakes. The drive through the military road is incredible!! Near two of the best gardens in Ireland (if you're into that kind of thing) Powerscourt and Mount Usher.
This was a wonderful place to stay - we would recommend it to anyone.

“A real gem! Far exceeded expectations!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

Our stay here was perfect in every way. The place is even prettier & more scenic than it appears in photos. Liam and Zell are to be commended for what they are doing here. It is probably the best B&B we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in quite a few. Clean, quiet, restful, cozy, comfortable, beautiful. Our holiday in Glendalough will always be remembered as truly special and magical, thanks in good part to our choice to stay at Liam and Zell's place. They are perfect hosts.

“lovely on all accounts”

We "fell" on it by sher luck, and it was the best surprise we ever had. Right in the center of the glen, walking distance from the sights and the lough. Clean, big charming rooms, great hospitality, and exeptional atmosphere.

“Perfect peaceful haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

Having attended a conference in Dublin, my wife and I wanted somewhere peaceful to unwind for a couple of days afterwards. A good friend suggested we head for Glendalough and after a couple of hours on the internet reading about the different options for Hotels, B&Bs and hostels in the area, we decided Riversdale House looked the nicest and had the best position.

And we weren’t wrong; immediately outside the property runs a river with sturdy stepping stones crossing over to a pathway along which you are about a 10-15 minute walk away from the hamlet with St. Kevin’s Kitchen, the Glendalough Hotel and the Visitors Centre – from where you can embark on one of several walks (ranging from as 20 minute stroll to a four hour hill-climb). Having quickly done one of the shorter walks we spoke with the ranger at the Information Centre and cautiously set off on the ‘White’ route that took us up over the hills/mountains above the two lakes (from where the name Glendalough is derived). The majority of the clockwise route is lined with a ‘broadwalk’ – parallel train sleepers covered in nails and chicken-wire for added grip. This made it passable for non-hardened walkers like us – even after the recent heavy snows. Our walk finished on a leg of the ‘Wicklow Way’ which ran down another marked route to come out virtually opposite Riversdale House.

Riversdale House is a relatively new well-appointed property (no more than ten years old) and our room was very comfortable with a great bed, nice bedding & towels and easy free internet connection.

The wide choice of breakfast options (including cooked to order ‘full’ and ‘half’ Irish Breakfasts) made for a wonderful start to each day of sightseeing. Liam and Zell get the balance of attentiveness without being intrusive, just right and their suggestions of where to eat for our two nights were exactly what we were looking for – firstly going to the Wicklow Heathers Restaurant (with a free lift home) and then to the Glenmalure Lodge, a pub / B&B about 20 minutes drive away.

We will have no hesitation recommending others to Riversdale House and will hope to get back there ourselves as soon as possible!

“RIVERSDALE COTTAGE - JUST PERFECT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2010

We recently stayed here for a long weekend. It is in the most idyllic location. It’s in such a quiet and peaceful area. The self-catering cottage is right beside the B&B. It is easy to find as it is sign-posted really well. There is a beautiful riverside walk to the Glendalough visitors’ centre – not more than 10 mins away. There is also a hotel there where we had our dinner most nights http://www.glendaloughhotel.com/ which we found great value and really tasty. The cottage was so clean and fully furnished. The 9 walks around the area are colour coded and graded in order of easy /moderate /ramble /hillwalk and distance. Find the map for download here http://www.wicklowmountainsnationalpark.ie/WalkingTrails.html We will definitely return.
