“Comfort and beauty at an old-world castle hotel.”

I wished I could have stayed a few more nights!

The Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is a wonderful place to stay when you want comfort while feeling as though you've traveled back in time. The room I had was small compared to a regular luxury hotel, but that was part of the charm. The view was fantastic! The room had all the amenities I needed, as well as a cushioned window seat - nice touch!

The quiet hotel grounds provide many beautiful paths to explore along a wide rushing stream, a quiet stream, a big lake, and through the woods. I always made sure to spend time enjoying the grounds before and after each day of exploring the local areas.

The food was very good! I especially enjoyed the fresh caught fish of the day, and a dessert that was the most artful and most delicious I've ever had in my life!!! Sometimes I wish I had photographed it! Breakfast in the gorgeous dining room, sitting at one of the many giant windows looking out on the beautiful grounds and stream was a wonderful and pleasurable experience. I took my time enjoying every bite of breakfast, and every sip of tea. A great way to start the day!

The staff was polite, respectful and ready to help.

The Ballynahinch is in a great location to stay at for touring the areas from the Doo Lough Valley to Clifden, through Roundstone and farther south.

I will definitely stay there again!

Dear rtfave,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am delighted you enjoyed our classic room so much in the old house and the kitchen team were thrilled to read your comments. We are lucky to have excellent produce on our doorstep. Connemara is a special place and I am glad to read you will return. Best wishes, Patrick

“What a Beautiful Hotel!”

I have just returned from Ireland where I stayed at Ballynahinch Hotel. The property was beautiful: a large, old mansion that was tastefully and elegantly decorated. The staff were wonderful, helpful people, who made our visit just perfect. The hotel is immaculate and comfortable, with a beautiful views and delicious food. The restaurant is superb, with perfectly cooked food and a wide selection at dinner and at breakfast. One evening I was tired and ordered room service. The dinner arrived promptly, beautifully served, still warm and as delicious as the previous evening's meal in the dining room had been.

“Stunning”

We had a long weekend here in winter and it was close to perfect. We had beautiful crisp, clear days which helped the trip because the surroundings of this hotel are just beautiful.

From our bedroom window we could see the mountains which just looked incredible in the beautiful winter sunshine. When you walk out of the door, there are lovely little walks in every direction - when we found the secluded lake with a little rowing boat tethered at the side of a hidden little house it made me want to live there forever.

There are some great drives out as well - the Sky Road was very scenic and we had a great walk along the coastal rocks. The towns we visited were quite quiet at this time of year but that suited us, and we were still able to get great pints of Guinness and nice pub food.

The hotel bar is wonderfully cosy - we had mince pies and wine by the open fire which made me super relaxed. Dinner in the restaurant was amazing - the cheese plate was the best I've ever had and had these delicious little seeded crackers which I have been unable to find anywhere else.

The hotel was expensive but we had two dinners thrown in and were looked after so well. It was great for a luxury weekend if you like scenic walks, quiet serenity and tasty food.

“Lovely!”

Spent three nights in this hotel last Summer and loved it! Beautiful location with fabulous walks on the grounds. Dined in the bar on one evening whilst slightly lacking in atmosphere ideal for somebody travelling alone. Breakfast was divine overlooking the beautiful river! Wonderful staff especially the charming porter whose name escapes me! Overall, a wonderful unique experience!
