Great central location in Historic Charleston. The conierge was wonderful in helping with dinner reservations and local attractions. Beautiful, clean and quiet room inncluding breakfast which could be brought to your room or the outdoor patio. Each night there were snacks, iced tea, lemonade and sherry in the upstairs sitting room and we met lots of nice guests there. Definitely recommend this Inn to couples and families as well.

Room tip: Carriage rooms are great! Very quiet.

If you like historic buildings, you'll enjoy staying here. Our room was beautiful and the hotel itself was very quaint. They serve afternoon tea and breakfast upstairs and both were very good. Our room was clean and the staff was very hospitable. It was exceptionally hot and they made it a point to offer us bottled water when we left. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the area attractions and really adds to the experience of visiting Charleston. If you enjoy the Bed & Breakfast experience, you'll enjoy this hotel. If you're looking for modern amenities like a workout room, you may want to stay elsewhere.

This was our first trip to Charleston and we wanted to stay somewhere that reflected the history of the city, was convenient to the area attractions and conveyed true southern hospitality. We found it all at the John Rutledge House Inn. We will definitely stay here again whenever we visit Charleston.

Room tip: All the rooms are beautiful decorated with antiques and really gives a feel of days gone by.

John Rutledge House Inn is a real gem in the heart of a gorgeous city. The hotel itself is historical and truly impressive in terms of architecture and design. The staff at the hotel are incredibly helpful, warm and inviting, without being obtrusive in the slightest. Everything about our experience at John Rutledge House was lovely. We stayed in the Elizabeth Grimke Room (one of the main house deluxe rooms) and if possible the photos on the website don't do it justice. This room was huge and very special.

Beautiful historic inn in a very convenient location. Walkabale to everywhere in the historic district. We stayed in one of the carriage houses. Very clean room, good housekeeping service and especially great breakfasts. Highly recommend.
