“Really nice large room with frig and microwave.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2009

I was attending a convention in Portland and instead of paying a fortune for a hotel in that area, I stay at the Radisson near the airport. Then I road the shuttle to the airport and caught the MAX, Portland fabulous light rail system, to the convention center each day. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. I didn't try the bar or restaurant, but did workout in a fairly nice little exercise room. But the best thing about the place is the size of the rooms. I have lived in apartments smaller than the room I had. And I got the place on priceline.com for only $49 per night. Definitely worth checking out.

“Plan on getting up at same time as spouse.”

Everything about this place was great, EXCEPT, the sink was in the room with the beds. I take longer to get ready than the hubby and this just doesn't work for us.

“Reliable Park and Fly hotel near PDX”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2009

The Radisson is my family's preferred Park and Fly hotel when we have an early morning departure from PDX. The hotel is removed from the main drag of airport hotels, and is in a quiet location surrounded by office buildings. If you're finding the hotel for the first time, call and ask for directions, as it can be kind-of tricky to find on your own.

The rooms have plenty of room - both the king and two queens arrangement. We have perfected our individual "sleep numbers," but if you're unfamiliar with the Sleep Number bed, it can take some getting used to - and adjusting in the middle of the night!

If you stay in the Charles Lindbergh level, they allow you to pick up a piece of fruit and a muffin for breakfast, but we always opt to stay at the regular Park and Fly rate, and then get Starbucks once we've checked into our flight at PDX.

We have been consistently satisfied with the shuttle service to/from PDX. When you check in for a Park and Fly rate, the desk attendant will ask you to reserve your shuttle time for the following morning's departure, which allows you to have a specific time to rely on to get to PDX. The shuttles from the Radisson to PDX have always ran on-time for us. Upon returning to PDX at the end of our trip, we call the Radisson (whose number we have saved in our cell phone) and request a shuttle pick-up. Once our wait was long - 25 minutes from time of call - but usually is only 5-15 minutes after you call. It can seem like longer if you're tired, cold, or generally wanting to get to your car and get home!!

“Good for 1 night, airport stop-over”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2009

While I can't complain about the price (got a great deal on a travel bidding web site), I don't really think this hotel lived up to the Radisson standards. The room seemed a bit run down and one of the sleep number beds was not working. That being said, the staff was very professional, and the hotel offers a courtesy shuttle to the airport, which was great for late night/early morning travel.

  • Liked — close to airport
  • Disliked — rooms need a refurbishment

“Stay where you can find your hotel”

This place really is very difficult to find...took me almost one hour to find it, and it's right by the airport! The hotel needs signs out on the highways as the building is not visible from anywhere. I got two sets of directions, both terrible. I went back to the airport twice to start over to find it. Don't try this at rush hour unless you have a GPS.
I pricelined this hotel, and got it at half most of the going rate. The pix on their website are true – not enhanced, so take a look.
Free ATM was appreciated as was the free washer and dryer. However, the dryer emits practically no heat, so unless you're willing to wait a couple of hours for anything to dry, go to a laundromat.
Free coffee in lobby in the morning, offered only until 8:00 a.m. which is quite early to stop it. I got there a few minutes late once, and the woman at the front desk told me I couldn't have any, I would have to buy it in the cafe. On principal, I didn't, as it was still piping hot in the carafes. Is that any way to do business? Had it been the gentleman from the night before, I'm sure I could've secured a cup of coffee. As usual, some front desk people are much friendlier than others.
Two free computers w/ internet, with no time limit.
My room was clean, and housekeeping respected my wishes. I had a nice view of a duck pond and an operable window which was great for the weather they were having! To all who complain of jet plane noise, if you are staying at an airport hotel, what do you expect? The noise was not that bad, and you quickly get used to it as you know what it is you are hearing. It is not a big deal. There's a nicely landscaped waterfall but it's hidden behind stone walls– you have to actually kind of enter it to see it, and due to the poor sight lines, I would not recommend to go in alone at night or to leave children of any age there alone. Too much could happen.
Sleep number beds were interesting. I slept on it for five nights and know it's not for me. Kind of like an aerobed, maybe? The sleep I got was decent, but I prefer a mattress with no wires attached.
Elevators smallish, and painfully slow.
I did not use the pool, but many others did. They need some sort of absorbent mat by the elevators as the floor can get wet from those who get out of the pool and drip all over.
Adequate parking – I could always find a spot, even late at night.
I left a brand new phone charger there, and called about it not one hour after I left for the airport. No one at the front desk would deal with it – they kept putting me through to housekeeping. No one in housekeeping would return my calls. I don't think many spoke English, and it wasn't Spanish they were speaking, so I couldn't talk to them. After more than a week of phone calls they sent me an old charger that didn't even work with my phone. My brand new charger probably became an ebay listing.
If the front desk people had simply talked to me when I called less than an hour after I had checked out, and had gone up to my room as soon as I had called, they could've retrieved it. But no, they wouldn't begin to talk to me – they just kept putting me through to the housekeeping voicemail.
