“What a DUMP!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2008

Avoid this place at all costs! It is a DUMP and way overpriced!!! They even had the NERVE to charge my credit card unauthorized charges after I left! What a racket. The place is disgusting, dirty, and falling apart. The "nature trail" they advertise to the beach is so hazardous that the stairs are falling apart. AND...the deck in the room where we stayed is so crooked that it is going to fall off the mountain side and completely unusable! AND...the Highway 101 traffic can be heard at all hours in the rooms! Avoid this dump.

“The View Point apartment at Driftwood Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2008

Our family of three stayed in the View Point Room, at the Driftwood Village Motel, the week of July 14th. We could have fitted two or three more in, comfortably. We very much enjoyed our stay. The views from the windows, and large balcony, are extraordinary. The View Point rooms are older, but very pleasant, 1960ish. The website photos don't do the rooms justice. The kitchen has new pots, pans, stove, etc. kitchen utensils. The beds and furniture are clean, very comfortable and pleasant. The staff and owners were helpful, friendly and informative, doing all they could to make the stay great, and encourage our return. I found the indoor grill, located in the chimney rock next to the fireplace, to be a fantastic plus. Enough folks have stayed in the View Point, to require booking it months in advance. “Sad Little Place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2008

May 22, 2008
Just spent last weekend at Driftwood Village. It was disappointing in a number of ways. Quite rundown. Actually, one of the buildings was torn down some time ago after apparently sliding down the cliff. We weren't sure our building wasn't next. There were carpenter ants in the room. There were no numbers on the oven dial, so we couldn't calculate the temperature, but it didn't seem to ever heat up enough to bake our pizza. Worst of all, the toilet--there was a sign indicating it was a low flow toilet and it would overflow if not flushed correctly. We had to unclog it with the very ineffective plunger provided--TWICE!! Yuck!! Not what you want to do on your vacation.

“Lighthouse Room is very crooked”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2007

We stayed in the Lighthouse Room this past weekend. It was a little funky but generally clean. They definitely need new beds and bedding, as both are quite old and dated...Definitely not soft and cuddly and closer to icky. The view was great, but the deck was so slanted we were afraid to go out on it, fearing it might crash into the bushes far below. The room itself was also quite slanted, as there must be some sort of structural problem with the building itself. The path down to the beach was nice...not more then ten minutes down the hill.

  • Liked — Nice view and pet friendly
  • Disliked — Slanted room and gross bedding

“Under construction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2007

Arrived to discover there had been a slide sometime back and several units were not useable i.e. only a cantilevered deck remained. We originally had 4 rooms and we had cancelled 2. The mgrs. tried to tell us they needed a 30 days notice even though the confirm. card said 7 day notice. The views are nice but there are no telephones and no continental breakfast. A unique place but be aware amenities are few and be cautious re: the cancellation policy.

  • Liked — Proximity to the ocean
  • Disliked — Scant amenities, dangerous for children
