I stay at Holiday Inns all over the US and this by far was my best experience. The guestrooms had new bedding that was fresh, clean and all white with a beige throw at the bottom...nothing like what was pictured. The lobby area is beautiful and the pool area was relaxing, clean and inviting. Each member of the staff we encountered was friendly, professional and said hello. The shuttle driver who picked us up from the airport told us about the hotel before we got there. My husband and I wanted to have dinner and they recommended their restaurant and it was awesome. Our server was outstanding. I think this hotel must have been recently renovated because I thought the decor' was beautiful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose this hotel again.

This review is based on my own two one-night stays, which seem to be more favorable than most of the other reviewers. Although I'm not rating the hotel above a 3/5, to me my stays were high 3s, as I experienced no real negatives during my visits.

First off, I agree that this is hotel is not located in the most favorable area, but I had no problems during either stay (Friday and then the following Monday) wth any theft or damage to my rental car. Hotel is located right off I-85 (Exit 32 to the south), so is easy to locate.

I found the front desk personnel to be very friendly and accommodating, and they worked with me to provide rooms in accordance with my preferences. As a tip, I would guard against being given a rooms with the lowest numbers on each floor, as an elevator and ice machines at this end of each floor are located in the hallway, directly across from these low numbered several rooms. Thery are not even set back in an alcove.

The one thing I did not agree with or certainly appreciate was an apparent general manager's requirement that Priceline customers have their driver's licenses copied! If they are still doing that, be sure to ask that the copy be returned to you upon your departure.

Good things: Free copies of USA Today are provided during the week. A very good selection of cable TV channels (60?) are available. Hotel is within 10 minute drive of airport terminal, and shuttle has scheduled runs every 30 minutes. Comfy beds with four pillows.

Not So Good: There are really no restaurants (other than fast food across I-85 to the north) within walking distance or, for that matter, within even a short driving distance from the hotel. The hotel is quite near the arrival and departure paths for at least one runway, but aircraft noise was not too bad, especailly if the A/C was running.

I highly recommend the Cockroach Motel over the Holiday Inn by the Charlotte Airport.

It was really dark inside and smelled like someone died up on my floor.

Then, on the ceiling over the bed, there was a 3-foot mystery brown spot. I was just waiting for a bunch of feces to dump down onto me at 2 o'clock in the morning.

I asked the front desk where the nearest restaurant was (besides the hotel one). They pointed me down the street where I crossed a 6-lane highway of traffic and was struck by a minivan coming back. I arrived at some dump called Shoney's where I found a 5-inch hair in my food. I asked for a To-Go box for the hair and headed back.

Airport shuttle was on time, but that's about it.

First, I was greeted at the door by 2 huge roaches hanging right infront of he hotel lobby. Check-in is scheduledto begin at 3:00,but I couldn't get my room until 3:45 soI had to drive around Charlotte to kill time. The hallways smelled like some type of bug spray, and the bath tub still had a disgusting ring around it. I will never stay there again even if I had a lay-over from the airport.
