Stayed three nights in the Chancellor Livingstone room at the end of our road trip around New York state in early October.
We arrived on a Saturday evening around 4.30 to find no one in and seemingly no way of getting in. Luckily another couple staying pulled up and knew the code for the main front door. Behind the outer door we found a personalised letter from Miriam and Eric apologising for their absence and giving us more details about what was what,
We struggled up some fairly tight stairs and found our room facing the river. First impressions weren't that great as some things didn't work and others didn't seen to be in the right place but within minutes we had figured everything out and after that everything went swimmingly.
The thing to remember is that the house is over 200 years old and not everything will be perfect. The things that made up for the little foibles included a glorious view, extremely comfortable beds, charming and knowledable hosts, filling unhurried breakfasts and a back porch where one can sit, unwind and watch the river go by.More
