I have to admit that I've never heard about Bluefin Bay Resort before.... until this summer. First my brother told be about the place, than I heard it from a friend of mine, and I got realy interested when I heard also my boss talking abou Bluefin Bay Resort. She was there for business, and when she get back she seemed very relaxed and ... HAPPY?!? I've never seen my boss happy! She was so impressed by the resort, the people, and of course the Great Lake Superior, that she was recomending it to all of us - friends and employees... and that is how by the word of mouth I discovered Bluefin Bay Resort. Now it's my turn to pass the word, and introduce as much a possible people to the unofficial 8th great wonder of the world. Do you believe in the love of first sight? You will... when you see Bluefin. I did not expect that, but I have to agree with all of the people who already have been there and who left their hearts forever by the lake ! Bluefin Bay Resort is one of the most beautiful and magical places I have seen, and yes I have to complain that is far away from the cities but the drive was worth it. We drove about 3 hours from St. Paul to get there, but we arived just in time for the Sunset - amazing experience that I will never forget. I wish I can describe it, but I do not have enough words to tell you how gorgeous and romantic it was. You should definately go and check it for yourselves. I can recomend watching the Sunset with glass of wine/champagne and with your loved one... this can not go wrong! Trust me! :-) I think Bluefin Bay it's a unforgettable and sophisticated place, and you can truly enjoy the diversity of people you can meet there. We stayed for 10 days ( initially our plans were for a week), however with the discount we got, we were able to extend our vacation with couple more days. During our get away adventure we met a lot of interesting people - finacial advisor from the cities, judge from Canada, sales rep from California, college students from U of St. Thomas, and even few girls from Jamaica ... it was like the United Nation's summer camp! We really had a remarcable vacation. We spent a lot of our time hicking, and one of my favorite trails is the trail by the Cariboo river. On the third day of our vacation we went to the Boundary waters and we rented kayaks to explore the area. By the end of the day we were so tired physcaly but so sattisfied emotionaly ... it's a weird feeling, but in the nice way . I think by the end of the day #3 we found for ourselves the complete meaning of the word happyness. Anyway... let me tell you something that you should avoid if you are not well prepared... you should avoid riding bikes in a long distances. it's funny but we did not realize how far is Grand Marais until we decided to go on a bike ride, but thanks to the Bluefin Shuttle we made it safe and sound back to our unit. It was awesome - we just called the front desk, and told them where we are, and they found us. The Shuttle picked us up or as we jocking it SOS-ed us, and now we have story to tell around the table for years to come. We did tones of activities - swiming in the pool, runing around Tofte park, or sailing with "Avanti", but mostly we were able to communicate effectively with each other. Ooops I almost forgot about the relaxing power of the SPA experience. We went once for massage and once for facial and this was the best time I ever had at a SPA. What I am trying to say is that Bluefin Bay is a definately a place that you can escape from the everyday's hassles. Where fun has no limits, and the only negative thing is that you will gain few pounds enjoying Koho's pizzas and the Bluefin Grill's ribblets. By the way the bar at the Bluefin Grill is famous with the Homemade Sangria. We tried to bribe Mike ( the best entertainer and bartender) for the recepie but he was too loyal to his boss, and he did not tell us the secret. We escalated the request to the manager's attention, and a very kind and delightful young woman named Nadya showed up, and gave us free drinks, and also told us the basic ingredience... however she kept the last one as a secret, and now we have one more reason to go back to Bluefin Bay.
