“Better Than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

We travel a long way to get to the hotel. The Ramada sign wasn't lit up so we almost passed it . Lobby was nice and clean, desk clerk helpful. Our room had more than we needed and everything worked. We did notice It needs a touching up here and there but for my money it was great. We didn't even face the parking lot so it was quiet. Was closer to MSU Stallion Expo than we thought (about 15 minutes away). Had microwave and frig so we could have stuff in our room for snacking. Large desk for working and the large round seat with the chair that goes was with it was a nice touch. Lots of pillows. We don't care about the hallways as long as it is clean. Carpet was not spoiled anywhere we walked. I would come here again and would hope everyone has the same experience we did.

“Cheap Remodel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2009

Had some concerns when booking this hotel after reading other posts, but hoped things would be better after the "Re-Do", WRONG! The hotel was clean & quiet for the weekend but the rooms were cheaply re-done. The cauk in the bathroom was a mess & there were no towel bars nor t. paper holder. Everything was stacked on a shelf under the sink. Some of the old wallpaper was still on the wall over the tub. There was no skirt on the bed so we saw the box springs. We could see on the wall where the old headboard was removed. Nothing was patched, just painted over. The comp. breakfast was better than most & the cofee was very good.

“Will Be a Nice Hotel - Just Wait Six Months”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

I spend two nights at the Ramada in Lansing about a week ago. I was there for a wedding, which the bride had booked a year or so ago when the hotel was still a Holiday Inn. Then it was under new management and those people sold it to Ramada. The hotel has a lot of potential. It is on a street with restaurants. The Lansing Mall and movie theater are just down the street. The breakfast was good with lots of food including: cereal, pastries, eggs, potatoes and make your own waffles. There is an attendant serving drinks and clearing the tables. The back of the breakfast voucher made it very clear that you were still responsible for gratuity, but I did not see anyone tipping. The rooms are very nice with new furniture. The bathrooms were nice, but there was no towel rack or toliet paper holder. There is an indoor pool, a whirlpool and a sauna. There are also a small arcade near the pool. Most of the hallways are still being remodeled, especially the first floor. I think it will be a nice hotel, but I would wait six months or so until everything is finished.

“Stay at the Red Roof Inn across the street for $39.00”

The outside of the hotel should be your first tip-off. The attached restaurant is all-boarded up with plywood...and the prior (Holiday Inn) sign has been removed and not replaced with any kind of sign. It looks like an abandoned building. Then....when you walk inside, to the front check-in, the wall behind the workers is a delightful emerald green with all kinds of dry-wall patch marks. As this was the second impression of the hotel after seeing the outside...I was a bit concerned. The room was clean although a bit strange looking. There were no bedskirts on the bed and metal frame and legs were exposed. Windows had sheer curtains on them so, if the lights were on in the room, you did not have privacy. Side entry doors to enter your room were "Out of Order" so I had to hall my stuff quite a distance to get to my room. And the ice machines were also "Out of Order." Geeze....for a discounted rate of $100.00 per night...this place is sub-standard! Our group booked this hotel more than a year ago, as a Holiday Inn. Believe me...the standards are not the same. My advice to the owners of the Lansing Conference Center and Hotel is, "CLEAN YOUR HOUSE BEFORE INVITING GUESTS TO STAY!"
