To celebrate our 43rd anniversary my wife and I decided to visit North Truro, the site of our honeymoon at what was then called the Governor Prence Hotel. AAA cited the Crowe’s Nest as a three diamond resort. In addition to celebrating our anniversary we made arrangements to visit some of our friends who had retired to the Cape. We made reservations at the Crowe’s Nest for June 19- June 26, 2010 and on December 14, 2009 sent in a deposit of $1155. My wife has been diagnosed with spinal stenosis (an arthritic narrowing of the spinal channel which leads to severe back pain). Unfortunately her conditioned worsened. Her physician suggested that we not go on such a trip (we had to fly from Chicago to Boston, rent a car and then drive to N. Truro) either until back surgery was conducted or, until medications and injections of cortisone could be applied. I notified the Crowe’s Nest that I had to cancel. I was notified by the Crowe’s Nest that since my cancellation came three days after the cancellation period we would lose the entire deposit of $1155 regardless of cause. The matter was taken up by Mr. James T. McCusker the Proprietor of the Resort. He would not return even a part of the deposit or as many good businessmen would give us a voucher for future use. Even our airlines, (American) gave us an extended voucher for a possible future trip when I made them aware of the circumstances.
I am presenting this information for whomever decides to vacation at the Crowe’s Nest. Be certain of your deadlines and be careful not to get sick or injured because Mr. McClusker is unsympathetic to any infringement regardless of extenuating circumstances.
