I booked a room at this motel for a single night, the last night of the "off season". So the rate was quite reasonable - about $70. I had seen the website, and was not expecting opulent luxury. Their photos are a fair representation of the rooms. In fact, the furnishings in my room were slightly better than those on the website.
I was a little concerned when I entered the motel office to check in, as it smelled of smoke. But my room was truly a non-smoking room. While it did not smell brand new, it was in no way offensive, and there was no odor of smoke.
The exterior of the motel is a bit old and tired, but they've updated the motel where it counts: clean, new bedding, comforftable bed, new AC unit that makes very little noise, 70 channels on cable tv. The bathroom was straight out of the 1950s with some mismatched tile replacements. But everything was in good working order, and it was very clean in both the bathroom and the room.
I did not utilize the restarurant or cocktail lounge - lots of other (and probably better) restaurants in this quaint small town.
In short, for $70, I didn't mind at all taking a trip back to the 1950s so long as it was clean, comfortable and well maintained - all of which it was. It is in a good location just as you come into town, and near the Crane estate and beach reservation.
