With so many negative reviews about the condition of the rooms, my husband and I were a little concerned about our stay. Ashley Inn far exceeded our expectations! The main house is nicely decorated and charming. We were served breakfast there every morning and had our choice of 3 options plus a variety of scones. Every afternoon cookies and lemonade were also put out for the guests to enjoy. We stayed in room 1 - located in the back of the house. It was great! Clean, well maintained, and comfortable. It had a little sitting area outside of the bedroom as well as a day bed. The bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed and a huge closet. The air conditioning worked great and was welcome after being out at the beach or bike riding.

Fred and the staff at the Ashley Inn were very nice and accommodating. Beach towels and chairs were available for our use, and we were able to park our bikes right against the fence just outside of our room.

The location is fantastic. An easy walk into the heart of Edgartown and a very easy bike ride to many other locations - beach, Morning Glory Farm, airfield, etc.

The only negative was that the wifi didn't reach out room, but it was available in the main house. Fred told us he was working on getting a router to reach the back of the house where our room was located.

Overall a great experience!

We booked this hotel online on the day of arrival ( August 13 2015 ). When we arrived, they told us that due to another guest issue with their on-line booking, the room should not have shown available. Quickly the staff called the owner, who promised to honor our booking and work to rebook the other quest. After lunch they called me and we were in the room. The B&B is quaint and only a short 5-10 minute walk into Edgartown. Breakfast was included in the rate and they had blueberry waffle, or an omelet with bacon, or granola. We definitely recommend this property for its convince to town, value and above and beyond help from the staff and the owner.

Room tip: Quaint B&B, short walk to Edgartown, and very helpful staff

We did a spur of the moment trip to Martha's Vineyard and booked this room only 2 days in advance as the island was totally booked up during this busy weekend. What a delight the Ashley Inn proved to be. The owner, Fred, was most helpful in anything we needed. He provided us beach chairs for the day and many suggestions for things to do on the island. Our room with a king bed was very clean and comfortable. We were served a delicious breakfast on the patio by Fred's daughter, Carol, who was very sweet and helpful also. I had a delicious western omelet and my husband had crab cake crepes. We had wonderful scones and breads, coffee, juice, and fruit cups with it. The Inn is charming. I highly recommend this place!

Well, let me tell you the pros first. Fred, the owner was very personable and helpful. Other staff very pleasant. Breakfast substantial. Great location which enables one to walk into town. Plenty of hot water for showers. Hair blower worked well.
Cons. Room not well maintained. Eg, could not use 1 drawer on dresser as both knobs were missing. Wallpaper in cupboard falling off. Doorknob to room almost came off. Bed skirt yellowing. I think it was supposed to be white. Dirty basin left under bottom of bathroom sink. All doors had to be slammed to close. ( maybe a humidity factor ?) Occasionally a wilted if not dead rose left as centerpiece on dining tables. Furnishings quite worn in bedroom ( ie water stains on nightstand ). Bathroom not exceptionally maintained each day.

Breakfast choice of omelettes, waffles with Vermont maple syrup or their homemade granola and yogurt as well as fresh fruit and pastries is very generous and all very delicious. The owner was ready to help with any of our questions on bike riding ideas, restaurants. He's relaxed and very hospitable . Rooms are small but clean and excellent showers
