This is an average Courtyard, with reasonable rates, in a good location. I often wonder where these other people stay when they are so effusive about this hotel.
The hotel reeks of air freshener, the towels are over bleached and scratchy, the rooms are dated and just okay (like the entire hotel) and our first room was so small that we asked to be moved to another room. As mentioned by others, the heating/AC system is miserable. You have two choices: hot or cold. But, for those who like it hot during the winter, you'll be delighted.
Since it is a Courtyard brand, there is a frig and coffee maker in the room and a little pantry store downstairs. There is also a restaurant (we did not eat there), which serves Starbucks.
The pro's are:
-on-site parking with easy access
And, within walking distance ---
*metro stops
*restaurants
*large stores for shopping (Bloomingdales, Saks, etc.), as well as upscale boutiques and brand-name stores
So, there are a lot of opportunities to spend time out of the hotel when you are not visiting the sites in DC or conducting business.
If you have to stay at a Marriott brand hotel in the Chevy Chase area, this would be an option. Again, I would not make it my first choice if it were not for the location close to shopping and restaurants.
