The IU campus is beautiful and was absolutely gorgeous the last 2 weeks of March 2012 with all the trees and flowers in bloom. If location/proximity to IU is your only consideration for a hotel, this will be ideal for you. It is located in the student union and is central to everything on campus and to the restaurants and bars in the campus town area. Surface parking is near the hotel (1 lot located off the circle drive at the back of the union). The bathroom was hotel clean with original fixtures. However, the room I was assigned was so small they could not even fit a standard full-size bed in it. The "closet" was just an 18" opening with a rod and the bathroom was NY efficiency sized. There is a 2-3" gap below the hallway door, so you hear absolutely everything going on in the hallway. In addition, sound travels between, so you hear everything.
Also, for those of us who live in the 21st century with all the standard technological accoutrement there were no outlets near the desk in the room, there were no night stands with accompanying plug ins (and yes this means no clock near the bed), so your only options to charge tablets, computers, phones, bluetooth devices etc, are the 2 outlets in the bathroom and at the sink. And although wi-fi is free, the hotel does not have good coverage and if you do get connected, you continually have to enter an incredibly long pass phrase to stay connected--the service seems to time out with what it considers "in-activity" for about 5 minutes). In addition, I was there several days and never received batteries for the remote control to the TV. It wasn't a problem for me, because I was there on business and never turned on the TV, however, I did notify hotel staff and never received the batteries. In addition to all this, the furniture is 1970s colonial, old and beat up, the bed was super lumpy and just not someplace I would chose to stay.
I DO want to go back to Bloomington sometime for fun, because the town had a very nice college town vibe, but I will not stay at the Biddle again.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us, and I am truly sorry that we were not able to exceed your expectations during this visit. I appreciate you brining your displeasures to our attention. I’m most concerned about our lapse in service, and not delivering batteries for your remote in a timely fashion. In regards to the size of your room, our hotel offers a variety or room styles and configurations. It seems like you might have been in one of our one double bed rooms, which do tend to be somewhat smaller and intimate. I would invite you to try our two queen beds, or single king rooms. These rooms have extra space to stretch, relax, and work.
I hope that you decide to give us a second chance, please contact me personally, and I’d be happy to personally assist you with your reservations.
