The Island Bay has the feel of the old Florida Keys experience of years gone by, but with a contemporary twist. The owners have gone the distance to comply with "green" standards, with energy saving practices that are noticable...it's good to see. The rooms are clean, bright and well appointed with nice furniture. The bed is comfortable, with extra pillows and blankets tucked away in the closet if required. The beach area is sandy and raked clean, and there is plenty of well kept chairs and lounges so you can sit in comfort while enjoying the view of Florida Bay. It's a good put in point for a kayak, and they are avilable if you didn't bring your own. There are chickees spread around the property with very comfortable seating and tables. Outdoor grills are provided as well. A list of good restaurant to visit was provided, and most of them agreed with the postings here on TripAdvisor...good choices. The location of Island Bay is excellent for a base to explore the keys, both north and south. We enjoyed our stay and will return. It's definitely a well run place to stay.
