Stayed at the Bahia Mar the second week of December '05. In addition to a great location, I found the hotel to be comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. As some other reviewers have stated, the facility could use some upgrading, but overall I found the stay to be most pleasant. This was my second stay there and I will definitely do it again.

My husband, daughter, and myself stayed at the Bahia Mar Dec. 4th before our cruise and again Dec. 10th, the day after our cruise. I was a little worried about this resort because of the reviews on this website. I will say, it really surprised me, we had wonderful service both stays. Robert, the bell Captain was wonderful to my daughter Michaela. The first stay we had the Marine building, very clean, no problems. Second stay Robert had gotten us in the high rise, 6th floor, with a balcony, great location, nice room. I will say that the prices for the mini bar and the pool bar is very out rageious. $8.00 for a margarita.

I can say that I will definatly stay there again, there is a wonderful place to eat(found this on the last day) at the Bahia Cabana, go out of Bahia Mar, take a right, go down about a block or two and it is on the right. Great food, cheap prices.

Want to thank Robert for all of your help.

I just returned from the Bahia Mar after spending 5 days there over the Thanksgiving Holiday. I had been a little nervous as the reviews were mixed, and though I am a "low maintenance" person, some of the negative reviews were very negative. I reserved an ocean front suite, and was very happy with my room. The only thing I would have wished for would have been a balcony that I could sit out on, as opposed to just enough to stand on. Another one of my family members stayed at the Bahia Mar as well, but in a basic room. He is much more "high maintenance" than I am, but even he said he'd stay there again. The rooms were clean, the staff was pleasant and very helpful, room service was great...
The only problem I had was in trying to reach the concierge by phone. I was encouraged to leave a message, and he/she would get back to me. After leaving a detailed message of what I was looking for, (I needed a location where I might be able to purchase a cell phone charger as I had left my at home) as well as my room number, I never did hear back from the concierge. Fortunately I had a car, a good sense of direction, and a keen ability to always find a mall no matter where I am!
I look forward to staying there again!

At least that way I'd be able to get my money back from my travel insurance.

We came down from Kissimmee where we'd been staying in a Travelodge for $39.99 per night. The Bahia Mar was costing 10 times that and the room at the Travelodge was larger and better equipped!

At the Bahia Mar, the bathroom has a sliding door to the toilet which is made from a flimsy cheap plywood - if you push it too far it can't be pulled out without a screwdriver. Even when it's closed it is so thin there's virtually no privacy - when you flush, it sounds like an express train in a tunnel.

The minibar prices are extortionate with a rude notice warning against using the fridge for anything other than hotel items.

Breakfast was poorer than at the Travelodge and guess what, it cost ten times as much.

With the noticeable exception of a couple of people the staff were surly and treated us as a major inconvenience. A friend visiting us was almost reduced to tears by the hassle she was given by the bell staff.

Now I know why it's no longer part of the SAS Raddison portfolio.

What can I say? We stayed a night which happened to be the night of Hurricane Wilma on 10/23. Remind me to never go to Florida again during hurricane season ;)

The staff took excellent care of all of out of towners. We are from NY and the hurricane caused considerable amount of damage. The staff was very kind and very attentive to our needs. They made sure we were fed and taken care of until the moment we checked out.

Wonderful location!!! Access to the beach without crossing the busy A1A. Great rooms at a great price. This is a prime location and when we do go there again, we will definitely choose the Bahia Mar again!
