Took my bf here for his birthday WHAT A DISASTER!!! Should have looked at reviews first!! the first room we went into was missing all floor boards the room was painted 6 diff shades of yellow, as if they ran out of one color... the sealing was COVERED in dust, the "maids" had left a filthy rag and two cups on the night stand, the whole hotel smells extremely old and musty, the bedding was old and STAINED along with the carpet, we went back to the front desk and complained, would not give us any money back but suggested a different room which we decided to take rather then losing out on our 100.00, went to 2nd room which actually had one color of paint and floor boards but floors and bedding was still stained and bathroom paint in bathtub was peeling, the closet had brown stuff splattered all over it, the mini fridge was nasty and all iced over, the chair was stained all 5 channels on tv were fuzzy and not worth calling cable i opened one of the soaps and it had brown mold looking stuff on it, the towels didnt smell freshly cleaned, the floor in the bathroom had dirt on it, toilet was leaking, neither my bf or i wanted to take a shower in the nasty bathroom or take our shoes/ socks off, we slept ontop of the comforter with the pillows still under it. the "continental" breakfast consisted of coffee OR orange juice OR a bagel OR toast... this place was absolutely disgusting and the only reason they are still in business is because of suckers like us! the only plus was that it was across the street from the beach other then that this place is FILTHY and DISGUSTING and should be shut down. Anyone that rated this place good either works there or owns the place, is a friend, relative etc.. Dont waste your money here!! Also... the fire alarm went off about 4 times from around 9 to 11 which was EXTREMELY loud and annoying

This couple stayed in the Sea Club in rainy days, no one wants to be in rainy days on the Beach, so all those stories that have no legs are all as a result of the Front Desk refusing to give a refund! it is true that we don't have a "Rain Check" policy, for us rain is act of God, and we don't give refund because of rain!
As for the allegations I must say that the Sea Club Resort is the only Budget Hotel on Fort-Lauderdale Beach that has the policy of changing the Linens & the Towels every single day of the year, we are known for our cleaness and up-keep of our hotel.
Should this couple chose to contact me, I could have given them some considerations, but not when they chose to write those things above.

“Budget on the beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Good value - definitely a budget property that could do with a lick of paint but lovely staff and nice extras like free beach chairs/towels. My only gripe was the fact that an 18% gratuity was automatically added to the food bill and then a space left on the credit card slip for a tip!! The free luxury breakfast comprises a bagel/toast and coffee - not what I call luxury and the free cocktail was a beer or local spirit drink - again hardly luxury.

“Inexpensive Gem by the Sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2010

I happened upon this hotel after a terrible night's stay at another hotel down the street. The front desk staff was very friendly and understanding of my plight. They allowed me to look at a room and it turned out to be perfect for me: quaint, nicely decorated, clean, comfortable bed...practically heaven in comparison to the hell I had just experienced. It was also inexpensive for the great location just across the street from Ft. Lauderdale Beach. They even thought of complimentary beach towels and chairs which you borrow from the front desk.

The housekeeping staff were all very pleasant & helpful and they all spoke English. At the end of my stay, the front desk staff arranged for low cost transportation to the Ft. Lauderdale cruise pier. Once again, the staff really excelled in customer service!

A big plus for this hotel is "The Deck", a festive open-air restaurant overlooking the beach. They serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. You'll hear great music, sip cold drinks and enjoy incredible burgers!

The location of the hotel is about 5 blocks from The Beach Place, a lively "mall" with shops, food and booze; very spring break-ish...Fun, Fun, Fun! It's also close to the Galleria Mall where many upscale stores and restaurants can be found. I walked everywhere I went and felt safe, even at night.

A must-do while in Ft. Lauderdale: the Water Taxi - best $15 you can spend in La-De-Da.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again...can't wait!

“Pretty Good! Reccommened if you're on a budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2010

My boyfriend and I just stayed at The Sea Club Resort 5/10-5/14/2010. I have to say i was pleasantly suprised. After we booked our trip i started reading all the reviews about how terrible this place is and I was truly concerned that our trip with going to be terrible because we chose such a crappy hotel.
The sea club resort is much older and much more out dated than the hotels around it but if you're on a budget this is a great place to stay because its in the middle of luxury. The surrounding hotels include The Ritz-Carlton, The Hilton, and The W. its right on the beach and it within walking distance of everything you need (food, shopping, nightlife, etc).
The hotel itself needed a little work but it was definitly livible. This place really just needs new carpet and a fresh coat of paint and it would give this place a major face lift. The hallways were really creepy and we tried to avoid the rickity old elevator but the rooms were pretty good! The furniture was pretty nice and we always had clean towels and clean sheets. (That was one of my biggest concerns). The hotel also offers free beach towels and beach chairs which was really convenient and the also had their own parking lot which is free to the residents. You pay for parking everywhere in florida so that was a really nice option to have.
Of course i would have preferred to stay at one of those fancy hotels down the block but for our budget this hotel worked just fine. we werent in the room much anyway.
On a side note, if you stay in Ft lauderdale and rent a car, I highly reccommend taking a day trip to the Florida Keys. Its definitly a site worth seeing and the 8 hour round trip drive was definitly worth it.
So in the end we had an amazing trip and staying the sea club resort made it easy to do that while on a budget.
I hope you have a great trip!

“A diamond in the rough yet a jewel of the coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2010

My sister and I spend a weeklong vacation at the Sea Club, and we had a great time. The hotel is across from the beach, and has a nice pool, too. The whole building is old, but well maintained, and everything is clean. The outside restaurant seems to be very popular, and was very busy for breakfast. We loved the ocean view from our table, and the food was very good, if a bit pricy. All the Sea Club staff were very helpful. Our room rate seemed very reasonable, especially compared to all the luxury high rise hotels all around. They all look the same, while our hotel had a lot of character. We would come back any time.
