My husband and I stayed last week at Churon. We also used the Travelzoo voucher for a 2 night stay. There are many positives to the stay, which made it well worth the value we paid. The decor did feel a little dated compared to some of the newer hotels in the area, however they were very clean and spacious with a gas fireplace and beautiful view. Have never seen such a large bathroom in a hotel! We were in just a regular room, not a suite on the second floor which looked over the property and other surrounding vineyards. Breakfast was included in the stay and was pretty good. I appreciated that it was sit down with several menu choices. We also had a happy hour included in our stay and were given generous pours of wine at the tasting bar as well as a glass to take to our rooms at the end of the hour. As recent reviews have stated, the hotel staff there was just really not very friendly and not what you expect from a quaint place like this. Would have liked to give the place 4 stars, but because of the unfriendly staff, have to give it 3.

Room tip: Second floor has a great view!

Wife and I stayed here for 2 nights using a package deal from their web site. Got a bottle of wine at check in, breakfast, wine happy hour, and a 2 night stay. We stayed in Room 207.

Place was very nice, although it could use some minor maintenance (ie. painting in areas, etc.).

Our room had double vanities, and between those was a shower stall. Room also had a fireplace, and a large balcony with an imported Italian table and 2 chairs Since we were on the 2nd floor, we looked out over the winery towards Rancho California road in the distance. We loved watching the hot air balloons in the morning from the balcony. It was also nice to hear some live music come across the valley from another winery one evening.

All in all, whether you use their web package deal, or a group-on deal, we had a good stay for the value.

Room tip: We had room 207, which, being upstairs, had a nice balcony to look out over the winery from.

Had a Travelzoo deal for half off 2 nights at the Inn. Included breakfast and happy hour wine tasting. The room was very nice, very large and nicely appointed with an easterly view. Hot air balloon sightings in the morning.
The service of all people was spotty. The nicest were the behind-the-scenes people. The front folks, not so much.
The wine is not good at all - very young and sweet. The 5 course dinner was okay. The breakfast was only okay.

Room tip: Second floor rooms have better view and more private.

Wine drinker or not, this is a very nice stay. The room included a king sized four poster bed. A refrigerator. A large flat screen TV. Wi-fi that actually worked well. And the good stuff. A large jetted tub. A fireplace. And a balcony with a beautiful view of the adjacent estates. Beautiful sunrises. Hot air balloons flying over or nearby each morning. A very nice tasting room and gift shop. Pretty good eggs Benedict. Very good service. That's just the hotel.

There are 40+ wineries within a few miles. Almost all of them are open for walk in tastings. I'm not a wine snob but I don't think they've quite caught up to Napa yet. Almost no estate wines to be found. That said we did find a few gems. The reds are the strong suit here. (If white is your thing try the Chardonnay across the street from Churon at Baileys.)

If wine isn't your thing head to old Temecula. It's just 5 miles away and worth the trip. Original buildings from Temecula have been preserved and recycled into restaurants and shops.

A great day for us was old Temecula at midday checking out the stores. Try one of the restaurants for a late lunch, then wine tasting in the afternoon. We followed that up with a lazy evening on the balcony sampling some of the days finds. Just watching the cotton tails run around in the gardens.

Room tip: Ask for the second floor. Better views.

I really like this place but it could go from 'good to great' with some small tweaks. Let's start with the positives: location is awesome, with great views of the valley and pretty central/close to wine country but not so far out that town is out of reach. Wine is pretty good, particularly by Temecula standards (not Napa, but not Napa prices either). During our visit all of the staff were friendly, and during the evening wine hour (5-6 on Fridays) they were particularly generous with the wine and pours, even filling our glass when we went back to the room! Rooms were spacious, every room has a view and a fireplace, fridge and also a jacuzzi tub. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was tasty and all in all the visit was all it could be...If you stay my biggest tip is don't miss the wine hour because they simply do an awesome job at it.

But the place needs to be kept up better. It definitely doesn't have a B&B feel as there aren't enough public seating areas and they lock you out of everything but just the room spaces at night. There is wallpaper peeling, jets were missing in our bathtub, our A/C made a clanky clank sound anytime it was running (which is a lot during summer in Temecula) and the place is just in general disarray for what could be an extremely nice wine country inn. They could make this place really really high end, and it just doesn't have that feel...there are so many great things that a few tweaks could easily make this a 'no brainer' 5 star review in light of everything.

So four stars for now, and worth staying there, but there is unrealized potential here.

Room tip: Go for an upstairs room. Every room has a balcony so you get a better view upstairs.

Thank you for your review. I sincerely hope you informed the front desk personnel about the few problems you encountered. That is the best way for us to remedy any individual room problems. Yes we do close up the winery and lobby after 8 pm but there is a person on the grounds to assist with any problems guests may have. The number to reach them is listed in the guest directory. I do hope you understand we are not, and have not portrayed ourselves as, a bed and breakfast. While we do offer a complete breakfast for our guests, we are a larger facility than a typical bed and breakfast. We are, in the hotel nomenclature, considered a small boutique or country inn type of hotel.
