This was our first time in Sonoma and we decided to stay right in the heart of the Plaza to be close to restaurants and shopping. The hotel itself is very nice, with an updated modern design in the lobby and a minimal but sleek design in the rooms. My main issue was with the staff who seemed completely aloof. Upon checking in we were given a luke warm greeting - not something I would expect from this type of establishment. We didn't realize that we had to check in at the front desk for breakfast, so as we wandered towards the dining room we were promptly scolded by one of the staff who told us there were other people waiting. On the day we checked out, I noticed two separate couples who came in from the outside to have lunch and were told by the host that the restaurant would not be opening for lunch for another 10 minutes. Both couples ended up walking away, presumably because the host did not do his best to politely explain the situation to them. Although a small detail, were were disappointed that complimentary coffee ran out by 10am. This hotel has so much potential, but really needs to get its staff in shape.
On a separate note, you should request a room that does not face the main street as it's still loud around midnight.More
