The grounds, the studio that we rented were both immaculate. The studio was very clean and well stocked. The location was very quiet and restfull. We were very pleased at the value we received when we booked our reservation.

Tennis courts are nice and in great condition. Adjacent to courts is nice clubhouse with very large workout area. Pool areas are nice with lots of BBQs that are clean and available for use. Condos need a lot of TLC. They are older and haven't been updated enough. Lighting in shower/bath was poor and hard to see! Not enough hooks or racks for towels. Décor in condo was, well, lacking significantly. No real décor to speak of. Doors in unit were old and had big dings in them. Owners really need to put money back into their units and update them. The pool areas were clean and nice. Location near Tennis Gardens is awesome though.

We stay in two kinds of resorts, those with onsite amenities such as restaurants, a convenience store and swim up pool bars, and we also stay at resorts that are more like owning a vacation home in a resort community. Desert Breezes is the latter type. The swimming pools and hot tubs were litterally sparkling clean, and our unit, though not glamorous, was also very clean and well kept, and the bed was comfortable. The grounds had lots of flowers and a beautiful water feature. There are a number of gas grills on the property, and we enjoyed cooking steaks on the grill. We had everything we needed at Desert Breezes for an enjoyable vacation. Our unit, #174 was on the second floor and looked out over the main swimming pool and the pond with fountain. This was a great view and it was nice to wake up in the morning and pull back the drapes to see the brilliant blue sky, pretty grounds and the mountains in the distance. Although we came during a cold spell, it was warm enough to lay out by the pool in the afternoon, and there were plenty of pool chairs.

On our last trip, we stayed at the condos at Westin Mission Hills. Clearly that is a more glamorous resort connected to a great hotel with far more amenities, nevertheless we really enjoyed our stay at Desert Breezes and would recommend this resort to anyone who does not require a four star hotel type atmosphere.

Room tip: We liked being on the second floor with the valulted ceiling and a nice view over the pool and water feature.

First, I want to make it clear that we like Desert Breezes...a lot. Much thanks to SFX. Our tastes tend toward the simple. If it's roomy, clean, quiet, light, good shower, good kitchen, good staff, great location, great grills, good pool, nice grounds.....we're happy. And Desert Breezes qualifies beautifully in all these respects. However a couple of (hopefully helpful) things should be noted.

1.At the first visit it's difficult getting through the entry gate. Without the electronic pass, one must enter 004 (or something like that) to open the gate. The instructions are on a panel, but the plexiglass cover is so weathered it's hard to see and read. These directions should be emphasized in a pre-visit email or letter.
2.We were in an upstairs unit, and the steps coming down can be hazardous at night. There are ground lights at the side of a few steps, but these created shadows on the other steps and made descending dicey. Some sort of overhead lighting would be very helpful. Absent that, a reflective tape or paint border on each step would really help.
3.Avocado carpeting. Really? (OK, no biggie, but indicated some dating).
4.The Wi-Fi system ($15 per week) was dicey. I kept getting thrown off and prompted for another access number. When I finally contacted the vendor's help desk, they walked me through the fix, and it turned out mine was not an unusual issue. It would be very helpful if management would include a "Wi-Fi Help Sheet", perhaps prepared by the IT vendor, with the check-in materials.

As mentioned, we like Desert Breezes a lot. We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay, and we look forward to returning.

Zach and Peggy Kaplan

Room tip: As mentioned, the stairs can be dicey at night and inconvenient if you have heavy stuff. We were in #156 - was quiet except when doing landscape maintenance. Very convenient to BBQ and pool.
