I just had my family reunion at this hotel. The location is ideal for family gatherings, as it is walking distance from restaurants, shopping, beach, boating and more. But above all, the staff were kind, helpful and creative when we had a bit of a mix up. My family loves the roof top view.
I am grateful.

We like Holiday Inns. They're reasonable rates, good value and comfortable. This hotel is one of the better maintained in the chain. The property is nice and the rooms are clean, spacious and welcoming. The staff was friendly and responsive.

The good was definitely the comfort level. The Bad was the inconvenient location. For anything except the base. We just slept there, no extras and gone before breakfast. We were pleased with the room and the beds.

Okay this may be one of my longer reviews because I want to cover everything. First of all, let me say that when I give a full 5 star review I do so with the thought that there is no hotel that I think could be absolutely perfect no matter what. But my review is based on my overall experience compared with other hotels and I think this hotel deserves 5 stars!
Pros:
1. Military discount offered which includes kids eat free and $12 food credit per day for the 2 adults.
2. Super close proximity to Camp Pendleton! You can be on Del Mar beach in 10 minutes or less (driving).
3. Hotel is right off of I-5 interstate.
4. Walking distance to Oceanside Harbor and beach.
5. Fitness Center is nice.
6. Free coffee in lobby each morning.
7. Super clean room, beds very comfortable! We were in the suite with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa and our family of 6 fit in there just fine---room is very spacious!
8. Kids menu is nice--portions are huge and kids eat free!
9. Staff members are very friendly and really accommodating!
10. We had a view of the ocean from our room! We were able to watch the fireworks at Pendleton from our room window on July 4th!
11. They have an observation room on 6th floor where you can go hang out on the roof. There are couches there and lights for a great atmosphere!
12. Laundry facilities are on 4th and 6th floors with 2 stackable washer/dryer combos on each floor----cost is free!
13. We ate dinner in the dining room one night and the food was so good that it definitely didn't seem like hotel food! The chef takes pride in his food, and even came into the dining room to make sure we were happy with our meal.
14. We were at the end of the hallway on 5th floor and it was SO quiet!! We never had any noise issues at all!
Cons:
1. Pool and hot tub area extremely small.
2. You can walk to Oceanside beach but you are taking a route behind buildings and the beach isn't that nice. We didn't care because we went to Del Mar beach on Pendleton. The harbor area is old and outdated with overpriced restaurants. Some shady characters hanging out there including people letting their dogs poop on the grass and not picking it up. I recommend finding a different beach!
3. I'd love it if the continental breakfast area was larger and just make it free. It was time consuming to find a waiter and order and then check out before you could leave. Also, we witnessed people taking things from the buffet and walking out without paying, which isn't fair for the rest of us paying customers!

Overall, the pros far outweigh the cons--we loved the hotel and would definitely return!!!!

To the Manager of the Holiday Inn,

I am writing to bring to your attention the recent issue we had during our stay at your hotel. We were in room 505 from June 21 - 27 and, for the most part, completely enjoyed our stay. The issue occurred on the second last day my family and I were there. On Friday, June 26th, we had planned a day at the beach. I opted to leave my watch in the hotel room so I didn't have to worry about it getting ruined by the salt water. The watch was left on the table near the t.v. Upon returning later that night, we were all tired and I didn't give the watch a second thought. This morning, as we were getting things packed up to leave, I noticed that my watch was no longer on the table where it was left. We unpacked and went through all the bags, as well as thoroughly searching through the room and our vehicle, but could not locate the watch. We reported the missing watch to the front desk agent, who stated he would have the cleaning service search the room, but generally appeared to be unconcerned. After finally returning home, we again searched through all of our bags, dirty clothes, and vehicle once again. The watch is no where to be found. I have no doubt that the watch is either still in the room or was taken at some point during the day we were out on Friday. I am really hoping that it was somehow misplaced in the room and will turn up soon. I have attached a picture of the watch for identification. If you would like additional pictures with me wearing the watch, I can provide those as well...as we have several vacation pictures showing me wearing the watch. I would appreciate any update on what is determined, whether the watch is found or not. Thank you for your attention in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I brought this to the attention of the manager on the 27th of June, the day after we came back from California. I'm waiting for their response but it seems like our issue is not important to them. I left my contact number, but i haven't received any response from them. what really bothers me is how often does this happened without the management having any interest in their costumers complains.

Hi Russ,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us during your recent visit to Oceanside! We are glad to hear that you [mostly] enjoyed your stay.

We're sorry to hear that you misplaced your watch and unfortunately no watches were located in your room or anywhere else in the hotel. In response to your comment, we take your concern very seriously and have called and emailed you several times but have not received a reply.

We would encourage you to complete a Lost Property report with the Oceanside Police Department at https://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/gov/police/ors.asp so that if your property is located anywhere else in the city, they will be able to contact you and reunite you with the watch.

Sincerely,
Geoffrey Parkford, General Manager

Our son is stationed at Pendleton so we went down there to visit for Father's Day weekend. This hotel had everything we needed. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a 4 minute walk to the pier. The observation deck at the hotel is relaxing and a great location overlooking the ocean. Our room was super clean, super quiet and had all the amenities needed. They do offer free coffee and water in the lobby but no complimentary breakfast but have a restaurant and the prices are very reasonable. This is our new place to stay from now on!

Room tip: 4th floor was very quiet and there is no foot noises above you so that's a plus.
