“Pretty good stay on spring widflower trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 March 2010

Good location for the north county sights, close to beaches and highways. Within 2 hour driving distance to Anza Borrego Desert. Rooms have enough space to be comfortable. Hotel is close to freeway, but our room was pretty quiet which we asked for when we made our reservation. Shopping center close by has a nice fish market with a casual family restaurant. Internet access in lobby was out of order during our visit but staff was helpful in answering a few questions that I wanted to look up.

“Great room for price.”

This was a happy find. We could not believe our luck to find a reasonably priced room that also accepted our pet (with a fee) and had a great breakfast. The management was friendly. The room was freshly updated and very clean. We visit this area once a year and will stay here again.

“not bad for the price”

We normally stay at the Residence In in Carlsbad, but decided to be more economicla in our choice of where to stay when we visit Carlsbad twice a year. The room is not bad, claen but small compared to what we are use to for a family of four. When the sofabed is pulled out, the room is smaller still and hard to move around with the desk and chair in the way. Can't nmove the chair, since it would block the room's door if there was an emergency and qucik egress was required. We are on the third floor away from the freeway. You can hear the freeway if you have the room's window open and the A/C running at the same time. You can hear the freeway, but it's not that noticeable unless you are really concentrating to listen. Wjhen the window is shut, we could not hear the freeway.
Their breakfast consists of waffles, toast, bagels, pastries, mini muffins, cold cereal, hot cereal, hard bolied eggs, juices, coffee, milk, hot chocolate.
The staff is gracious and accomodating. I wanted to purchase a guide to the San Diego area gto keep for my trips, and learned I could purchase it at the front desk. They did not have any to sell, but provided me with one for free!

Overall, if you just need a clean room to just use as a crash pad, this a a pretty good choice, based on the AAA rating that we use to find accomodations we are not familiar with.

“Adequate accomodations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2009

We made our reservation a month in advance and per suggestions in other reviews requested a room away from the noisy freeway.

And...we were given a room one unit from the freeway.

When we requested a quieter room we were given a vague song and dance about availability despite a nearly empty parking lot. After lunch we found a more cordial manager at the desk who more specifically said they were nearly sold out. but accomodated our request for a larger room further away from the freeway.

The first room was typical of a national motel chain - clean, adequate, cheaply appointed. Not quite what we were expecting of this property. The second room had two rooms and two baths. Spacious for a chain motel. Each room had a flat-screen television.

Chief complaint would be that the King bed was fitted with 5 small pillows - not even standard sized pillows, slightly larger than throw pillows. Two were too thick; one not thick enough. This made for restless nights despite the comfortable mattress.

The continental breakfast is a typical mix of cereal, pastries, bagels, hard boiled eggs, apples and bananas. But do-it-yourself wafflemakers make this an above average motel breakfast spread.

Not a bad value overall and a nicely maintained property.

“Great Value when on a Budget!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

La Quinta was a great stay for us. The Hotel was very clean and the breakfast was really pretty good, especially for our 4 and 5 year old. Waffles, eggs, fruit coffee nice way to save some money and get the energy we needed for Legoland. We took the train (Coaster) out to the hotel which also made for a fun adventure. We picked La Quinta because of the train proximity because my husband and rental car were a day behind us.

Overall, very happy with our choice. Hopefully next time we can try the resort but we had a great time.
