We normally stay at the Residence In in Carlsbad, but decided to be more economicla in our choice of where to stay when we visit Carlsbad twice a year. The room is not bad, claen but small compared to what we are use to for a family of four. When the sofabed is pulled out, the room is smaller still and hard to move around with the desk and chair in the way. Can't nmove the chair, since it would block the room's door if there was an emergency and qucik egress was required. We are on the third floor away from the freeway. You can hear the freeway if you have the room's window open and the A/C running at the same time. You can hear the freeway, but it's not that noticeable unless you are really concentrating to listen. Wjhen the window is shut, we could not hear the freeway.
Their breakfast consists of waffles, toast, bagels, pastries, mini muffins, cold cereal, hot cereal, hard bolied eggs, juices, coffee, milk, hot chocolate.
The staff is gracious and accomodating. I wanted to purchase a guide to the San Diego area gto keep for my trips, and learned I could purchase it at the front desk. They did not have any to sell, but provided me with one for free!
Overall, if you just need a clean room to just use as a crash pad, this a a pretty good choice, based on the AAA rating that we use to find accomodations we are not familiar with.
