This is one of a string of small hotels along Moonstone Beach between San Simeon (Hearst Castle area) and Cambria (cute little town with restaurants and shops). Much nicer setting than the hotels in San Simeon. It's a small "mom and pop" style hotel, but very pretty and a great location. It's directly across from the ocean, and there's a wooden walkway along the coast with paths down to the water. We stayed in the 2-room suite. Not fancy, but clean and nice, with a fireplace. Very nice landscaping with lots of flowers (and hummingbirds). If you're looking for a nice little place to spend a night or two, with easy access to tidepools and the beach, this is a very nice place. It has a small pool and hot tub. There's a nice restaurant a block or two away, and it's a quick drive into Cambria where there are lots of restaurants.

We took a spur of the moment weekend trip to Moonstone Beach in Cambria and stayed at the Sea Otter Inn. It was just what we needed! Very clean and comfortable room with a small, private garden patio...Perfect for eating the deluxe continential breakfast included in the room rate. My husband was surprised to find free wireless internet too! The staff was very kind and even made a dinner reservation for us. (The Cambria Pines Lodge was delicious!) As with all of the hotels on Moonstone Beach, you are just across the road from a very scenic boardwalk.
This was our fifth trip to Cambria but our first at the Sea Otter Inn. We will definitely stay at the Sea Otter again!

Coming from Florida and planning a trip from San Fransico to L.A. was not easy in one day. We needed at least two but not sure of the halfway point. We were advised in Cambria but did know were to stay. Thanks to Tripadvisor as always, we picked the "Sea Otter Inn". It was a chance considering all the other facilities in that area and those of much more value. Cleanliness was most important but we were surprised to get even more then what we had expected - Comfort ! The rooms were well decorated and much better then your average hotel with comforters that make you want to stay in bed. We wanted to be by the ocean and we got it only within 50 feet of our room. You will see Otters, Seals, Rabbits and Squirrels with a pleasant boardwalk experience. There is a resturant called "Robin's" that is a few miles from hotel. Highly recommended! The service was what we have expected until we met Becky. She made our stay more worth while. People make great establishments - Becky makes the Inn what it is. You feel at home away from home. This is one of many reasons why we would return. Even our Grandaughter gave this place a thumbs up !

We stayed one night in a suite at Sea Otter Inn. The room was very charming and had two sleeper sofas in the living room and a separate bedroom along with two full baths. It was wonderful for our family of 5 and right down the street from the beachwalk. The only negative is there is no air conditioning, so you do need to leave the windows or doors open to get air but even that did not detract from our stay. They also serve a nice continental breakfast in the morning with various danish, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, cereal, etc.
