“Good friendly, family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2010

Stayed 2 nights B&B and 2 evening meals recently on a mid-week heritage offer. The hotel is small, only 20 bedrooms, but the rooms are big and comfortable. They have flat screen TV, tea & coffee and a fine big bathroom. Meals were excellent with a fairly good choice of menu for the evening meal. The owners and staff were very friendly, genuinely so, and made sure you were well looked after. Kilmallock and the surrounding area are really unspoilt and full of history and pre-history and the nearby Ballyhoura mountains offer plenty of walks. The hotel arranged a tour of the town by a member of the Kilmallock Historical Society and there are plenty of interesting sites in the town. The stay was most enjoyable and great value. I would recommend the heritage offer to anyone interested in local history or even if you only want a relaxing couple of days.

“Absolutely Brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2010

The hotel organised a Historical Weekend for our Local History group. By "organised" I mean everything! A meal on Friday followed by a brilliant talk on Local History - organised at short notice - the original speaker was "volcanoed". The next day we got a marvelous tour of the area, followed by an excellent meal and a night of traditional music & song, and then a short trip on the Sunday morning. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, the food was excellent and the local historians informative and entertaining. And they don't just do history - cycling tours, walking tours, even motoring tours, all to the highest professional standard. (and - don't tell them - the prices were more than reasonable). Absolutely brilliant.

We stayed here while Mountain biking on the Ballyhoura trails. The service was excellent, staff very friendly, and it was excellent value. Full Irish breakfast plus a packed lunch to bring mountain biking. Could not ask for more.

“What a complete pleasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2009

We had the pleasure of staying in Deebert House Hotel for a family birthday party also hosted by the hotel recently. Margaret, Jamal and staff really could not have done more to ensure that it was a memorable occasion in every way, from arranging contacts, organising the room, taking care of guest lists, nothing was too much. The banquet was tremendous, the food outstanding. I really cannot say enough about this hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. My only regret, not having an excuse to travel down soon again!

“watch out! no residents bar....and a rude porter.”

I recently travelled to Kilmallock for the fourth time in about six years. We always stayed at the Deebert and looked forward to the usual friendly service and welcome. We had an outstanding Dinner in the restaurant ,went out to an evening of Drama at the local theatre and returned to wind up the evening at the Deebert.
However,at this point our evening took a turn for the worse. My friends and I noticed that one of the bar staff seemed very abrupt ,to the point of being ignorant towards us and created a very frosty atmosphere. When one of my party requested a drink after 1 o'clock am we were all informed by the same barman.. of indian or asian origin...that there WAS NO residents bar and that it was at the discretion of the hotel whether or not it provided one.Imust point out at this stage that this is my first time ever complaining about an hotel and that my party of friends was not in any way agressive towards this individual previously.
We certainly will not be returning to Deebert House in the future.....we felt we were poorly treated (having spent quite an amount of money in the hotel....between bedrooms ,restaurant and bar.Consideriing the difficult ecoonomic circumstances we find ourselves in ,we hope it stays fine for Deebert and its staff.
